Default Dog in coupe trunk?

I obviously want my dog to be comfortable, and he often travels with us so that makes the roadster impossible. However, I was wondering if it would be possible in the coupe? Would a 60-70 pound dog be reasonable in a coupe?

Others have done this before, he would fit but with issues.
- the lift gate is very high, he won't be able to jump in and out and putting him in and out without tearing up the car will be tough.
- temperature control, you will have to be cold to keep him cool enough.
- sunburn could be an issue without dark tinting.

uv rays can't travel through glass, so sunburn wouldn't be an issue. he would be hot though. please do it with care!

Way back in 1981 I had a 280 ZX. I also had a 110 lb white Akita and a 120 lb black Lab. Both could jump in and out of the rear. Sometimes I would drive with the hatch open (leashes in hand) just to get /watch peoples reaction to these two contrasting dogs sitting down facing the rear. That was LOL now that I reflect. Even just put a smile on my face.

Story 409. The older we get the more stories we have to tell about.

PS I think the 280 ZX had more room in the rear area, now that I think about it.

I have two dogs, a pit mix who is 80 pounds and a lab mix that is 90 pounds. They couldn't both fit in the hatch, but one could fit very easily, just put down a blanket and he/she will be as happy as can be. I put the other in the front seat with me and we were off. Its very doable with one dog they size of yours in the hatch, I wouldn't freak out about them getting too hot that much, they are dogs!! they love being outdoors, just run the ac on a low setting and aim it towards the back, they will be fine, you shouldn't have to freeze yourself, its a tiny cabin!!

Coincidentally this is one of the reasons I'm going to get an SUV, I like to let my dogs have some room to walk around the car so they don't get cramps.

I have a friend that is blind that I picked up for a party once. His seeing-eye dog is a golden retriever and fairly large, probably about 80+ pounds.

He was happy to jump up into the back on his own and curl up in the cargo area.

Just be careful about the temperature and the dog should be fine.

Cheers!

I run midget illegal aliens across the border in the back of my car to help pay for my racing expenses... They don't seem to mind... And GWB promotes the process...

Sorry...

I've got tinted windows, so the Sun issue isn't a problem. The AC seems to get back there pretty good too. I've had two Bull Dogs back there with no trouble at all. They seem to like it actually. No getting two 60-70 lbs short legged dogs out is another story. That wasn't to easy on the back.

i put 2 5'5" girls in my trunk, and although they were a little squished, they fit.

(i know not the smartest idea at all, but it was only for a 3 minute ride and they really needed to get there. having them slightly intoxicated helped too.
i was just trying to be a good person and get them home safe)!
