Talking I hate it when this happens...

Since I bought my '04 on Friday, I've had a lot of people asking me for rides. Thankfully they are mostly single women.

Since it only sports one passenger seat it seems to be taking quite a bit of time to accommodate their requests. However, I just can't cruise the parking lot or just zip around the block. NOOO, I have to actually put some miles on the car on the highway for them to "appreciate" the experience.

I guess they don't know what its like to hit 80+ by the time you get to the end of the freeway on-ramp.

I have to work and do my normal personal stuff, so I'm a busy guy already. Now this.

Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Oh, and I'm seriously considering replacing the cup holder or doing the velcro mod. The thing did an unauthorized opening and jabbed me in the ribs as I leaned over to give a kiss to a girl that I'd like having spend more time in the passenger seat (if you get my meaning). Bad cupholder, bad.

I feel sorry for man... My only advice is that you keep breaking your cup holder the way you have been.

You ought to try the convertible version. I should paint it yellow like a taxi!

Isn't life rough!

I am going to assume one of two things...

Either you are young, with all your hair, and a six-pack that has not yet evolved into a twelve-pack.

Or...

Well, let me put it this way... Do 70 year old widows needing a ride to the local mart count as "single women"?

Enjoy your new XF and welcome to the forum.

Good assumption on the first one (today's my 41st birthday btw). Being a trainer at a gym part-time really helps keep me young. Most people think I'm late 20's.

And the 70 year old widows would get a ride because I'm a gentleman and would be glad to help out. However, I don't know any at the moment that have asked so that hasn't been an issue.

Thanks for all the help and support I've received so far. I'll try and contribute as much as I can as often as I can. With a witty repartee from time to time.

It sure is tough being a Crossfire owner and having cute girls ask for rides...

Did she say something like "...is that a cupholder in your console, or are you just happy to see me?..."

Welcome Sparks, I know you are going to keep getting those ladies to join you. I'm 61 and I still get them wanting rides, I'd love to give them other rides as well but at 61 the six pack is gone the same place the hair went, other parts of my body have followed suit...wish I knew where they went?
Good luck with your car, I know I love mine and never cease to have a great time. I just won a first place trophy in the "Special Interest Class" at the Automobiles of the World Show in Rhode Island.

Just as a general sidenote...I'm always amazed at who I see staring at my ride. Everyone from preteen kids in the neighborhood, to the 70 to 80 ish fellow who stopped to comment last saturday at the grocery store! I can't think of any other car with such a wide appeal!

All hail the mighty crossfire!

Hmm, The unhappy people around here must be jaded or something. I'm getting none of the above attention.

I've owned this car less than a week now. I'm amazed at the number of people who ask how many tickets I've gotten, or told me to be careful and not speed. I guess they know me too well. I just tell them not to worry about the tickets, I just get up to speed very quickly. One of my customers today gave me the warning, then asked me to burn out when I left so he could see it move. lol.

The car looks fast just sitting still so I won't be surprised one day to find a speeding ticket on it just sitting in a parking lot.

I have to admit that, once people see the car for the first time, they tend to come over and ask questions. When I explain all the goodies it has and the Mercedes connection, they all smile and say that it must have cost a fortune. I tell them the truth and see their eyes light up. Funny, I have "sold" at least 6 cars from local dealerships. No money from them though, just happy people that turn into Crossfire lovers.
