Question ripples from factory?

If you guys look down the side of your car from behind, do any of you have some ripples or indentions just barely visible right around the door handle. You have to put a reflection of a stripe or light object on the door to see what I'm talking about. I think it may be from the metal press that forms the indention for your fingers in the door handle. Just curious. If it isn't normal, I'll take it to the Dent Wizard. I've seen it before in other cars, but never looked at a Crossfire. My pass. door has similar, but not as noticeable as driver door.

Thanks.

Do they run vertical or horizontal or diagonal?

~ this is normal from the stress of metal stamping during manufacturing.

most noticeable at the front & rear area beneath the handle just below the curve.

brand new honda are notorious for this... due to the thin metals.

Exactly where I'm talking about. Thought that's what it was. Just very critical of the car since I bought it used. Thanks!

Well, looked at 4 new Xfires at a local dealer. All of them have the ripples I was nit picking. The driver's side was worse on those examples as well. Turns out it IS metal deformation caused during the pressing of the door panels. Thanks for the replies.

Holly cow! I thought it was just me. I noticed this months ago as well when I first purchased. First, I thought it was possible damage from the previous owner. Finally, after looking at both sides, decided it was just indicative of the shape of the door at that location. I'm glad to know there are others crouched down staring at the sides of their cars too - lol.

I'd like to place a bet that there's probably not a Crossfire dealer around who would know the answer to the question about ripples. Leave it to one of our forum members to KNOW the answer.

Frank:

Ha, no kidding. I am a nut when it comes to cars and bikes. My girlfriend thought I was completely off my rocker for crouching down and inspecting things she couldn't even begin to notice! I had to do it when she wasn't around so that she wouldn't call the nutty bin! I first saw it by accident. I had just waxed the car for the first time and was walking around making sure I didn't leave any white residue on the car. Well, the reflections hit just right and I saw the ripples. I too thought it was damage from the previous owner. So, after posting on here and waiting for Sunday when the dealership was closed so I could go inspect the new ones on the lot, I confirmed what they were.

I can't stand dings or dents. Heck, I paid $120 bucks for the removal of a ding that was so small, I was probably the only one who could see it. The dent guy took about 10 minutes to remove too!

Oh well, call me a certified car nut if you will.

What's even funnier is that during my inspection of one of the new convertibles on the lot, I discovered a ding in the passenger side door. Yes, it was NEW new. Oh, there was a tag on the window that said SOLD too! If the new owner reads this, it is a Saphire Blue/Silver convertible at Bonneville and Son Chrysler.
