Tires
Just bought my 2004 Crossfire!
After driving by the dealership on my way to work for a couple of weeks, I just had to have it. I put all the money I had towards the down payment, just to find out that the tires on the car need to be replaced... The price quotes I'm getting are all over $1,000 for the set. I will admit this is my first sports car - I've always driven SUV's and know nothing about cars. If you know of a good brand/style of tire that I can use that would be under $500 for the set, I would appreciate the info.
Thank you!!

Dang.
That's what I was afraid of. *sigh* The salesperson told me there was nothing wrong with the tires when I asked him about the bulges around the wheels. I suppose this is my punishment for being an impulse buyer, eh?
I can handle the oil changes, but, like I said, I just put down all the spare $$ I had towards the down payment for this thing. Blah.
Well, even if I can't keep it under $500, anyone know of a good brand/style I can put on it that is on the more affordable side?

I purchased my xfire 2 weeks ago...its an '04 with 16k miles on it...it needs new tires...it actually failed inspection b/c of it...the chrysler dealer I bought it from guarantees inspection so now I have to head back there and show the sales manager the tires and the DMV report noting why I failed...I'm assuming things will work out fine...I should've checked out the tires before driving it off the lot but my head was up my ****...
I would suggest heading back to the dealer and complaining...play dumb...be annoyed...offer up a sob story...see what you can get...some dealers actually will try to help you out...others could care less...
"look I plunked down a huge chunk of change to get this car...and you're easily making plenty of money off the deal...I don't know much about cars and now I find out my 'new' car needs new tires?!...you guys have to be able to cut me a deal here"...
It helps if your dealer claims they do "100 point safety checks" or whatever...most franchised dealers will use this ploy...whether they do it or not is suspect IMO...
If they supposedly did a safety check on the car...they should've dealt with the tires as very low treads are a safety hazard...
Best of luck...

Didn't even think of ebay.
I did try talking to the salesman - but he says that they aren't going to replace them - but they will use their tax exemption on the tires I buy... so it saves me like $50... I even broke down crying because I had to come up with money for school this month as well - didn't have any effect on the guy at all. But if he let me drive off the lot, even after I asked about the bulging around the wheels, then I guess it wouldn't matter to him. Heartless sob... I get so tired of people doing this to me. But he said they aren't required to replace them because when I had asked about the tires, he had told me that he was 'not a tire expert', but that they looked fine to him. Pft.
Sorry if I'm turning this into my own personal ranting thread, lol. Just frustrated.

Boy,
If it was me, I would go to the General Manager, or Sales Manager. Not the salesman. And tell them that you inquired about the tires and what the salesman said.
Even tho he is not a tire expert, he should have had the sense to ask the shop to take a look at the bulges.
And if it was me...I would talk REAL loud so that other potential customer, can see how they treat people. Bet they help you then.

Good hunting!
I almost went with Cooper Zeon's Take a look...
They would be $554 plus shipping and mounting

Eva,
Listen to Cruiser. Go talk to the manager. I had an issue with my used Jeep when I bought it. The salesman wouldn't do anything but the sales manager wants you to come back and buy another car from them so he should cut you a deal. I like the Mich Pilots but this is just my opinion. Have fun with your new wheels.
