Just bought my dream car
Hello everyone. I just bought a Black 2004 Crossfire Coupe two weeks ago. I have been eyeing this car since it came out. I never thought I would own one though. I was in the market for a new car recently and test drove a ton of new cars. I wanted something sporty, and speed was a plus but not required. On my sons advice (he's 17) I drove an s2000, 350z, civic si, rx-8, and others. But my wife and I happened across the '04 Crossfire. We were driving past a row of auto dealers when she pointed out the Crossfire. I kept going but she insisted I go back. She reminded me that I have wanted this car for years. I went back, got the keys, did the test drive, and I was hooked. Funny thing, I went back two days later with my son and he was hooked too. I bought it the next day. This is a fabulous car. I spent four hours yesterday on this site reading the various threads. I haven't done anything to the car yet other than wash it. (Thank you all for the detailing threads. My first attempt at washing left water spots. Now it looks fantastic.) Now I have the car of my dreams and the speed I wanted as well. Using the AutoStick I can leave other cars behind. But the real thrill just comes from knowing that this car is mine. Anyway, I look forward to many years of driving a car that turns heads and gives me that once-in-a-lifetime feeling of ownership.
Congrats on a great purchase! I got mine on Friday. I wanted black but couldn't find a nice one. I perfected the interior yesterday and spent today washing, clay bar, and waxing. Looks brand new now. I also used Blue Magic lens restorer on the head light lens which had some hazing. Just about every 2004 I saw had some of this. Clear and like new now.

just love this car.
i'll be doing my 3rd set of back tires ($300 ish ea.) soon then my 3rd fronts about a year later. maybe less. just did front brakes and rotors @ $700 and the car is still as solid as the day i broke it in. everything works fine, nothing is showing any significant wear and i fully expect to die with this car. i'm now 60 and i don't smoke.
i've driven very many very long trips; i had a 16 hr run to iowa i did routinely for a couple of years and did vegas to houston straight thru once, and this is just the most comfortable, effortless-to-drive, car i've ever had.
that's probably worth noting. this car is so responsive that you can be very comfortable making minute movements to make it do a lot. kind of like automotive dressage'.
if you get a chance; take it somewhere safe and do an 85-to-zero panic stop.
scary cool.
then, and this is hard to do but you will sooner or later, in a hard rain with ponding, carefully push the speed up to where you expect the light car on huge-wide tires might begin to hydro-plane. feel that? the thing is hydroplaning but the computer is hitting the brakes on individual corners and setting it back on course. really, same stuff that keeps the f-22 raptor from going ziggy.
one thing to keep an eye on is the windshield. very soft. if you've got good insurance then maybe someone will accidentally drop a brick on it or something. i should have done that. late afternoon into the sun is entertaining.
when i bought it, i told a friend that we'd check out the competing and faster, asians in a few years and see how they're holding up. i wonder...
dan...congrats again.

Welcome to the forum and congratulation on your new purchase. We bought our '04 new and have primarily used it for road trips and day rides and it now has 15K miles on it with no major issues (we had to have the weather stripping replaced because of the wind noise). The Michelin's that came on it have been holding up great and I expect to get at least 20K our of them.

Thank you all for the comments. It's reassuring to know that everyone is so pleased with their cars. Just got some ceramic pads for the front today. Can't have brake dust lousing up the appearance of my beautiful car. Have a fair amount of auto knowledge, so I'm going to put these on myself. No other plans for modification immediately. Again, thanks all.
