Default My car spoiled me...

I'm in Indiana on business this week and picked up a rental car for the commute while I'm away from my beauty at home.

I now know I'm spoiled.

I try to open the car like mine at home, but the handle doesn't pull out to open, you have to push the thumb button. I've done that so many times today its not funny.

Its an automatic like mine, but the gearshift **** doesn't move like the Crossfire with its pattern. No matter how hard I try, it only moves straight up and back.

No zip or pep to the car (nope, nada, nothing). It makes a lot of noise when you step on the gas to go, but it is SOOO slow. Hit the accelerator and wait.

When I hit the key fob to lock the car, the horn beeps. I had to laugh, I wasn't expecting it and I jumped. I know there are a lot of people that don't like that feature, but I do. I don't like having to turn around as I'm walking away to watch the lights. Thanks for the tip in the posts on how to get that changed (go Netherlands!).

It has 3 cupholders. 2 regular, and 1 for the big 44oz'er or larger.

A/C performs poorly. My Crossfire could double as a meat locker. I'm in Az. and I get cold after a while with it on full blast. Gotta love it...

Oh, and being a rental I checked. Tons of swirl marks.

I completely agree. They spoil you for sure.

BTW, I missed the thread about changing the Locking confirmation...

Could you post a link? Thanks.

Try this:

I would love for my x-fire to chirp, but I don't think it's possible. The "netherlands" fix seems to be a fairy tale.

I had the same thing happen to me on a trip to Boston a while back. The car rental agency gave me a Chevy HHR. Not bad looking, but man, what a turd! It couldn't get out of it's own way! I almost wrecked the thing twice because I came into turns at a speed that wouldn't make the crossfire blink and the Chevy had all four tires howling and the front-end under steering badly! I was very happy to get rid of that thing when the trip was over!

LOL I have to agree...if my ZX2 felt slow before, now it feels positively GUTLESS. Corning is no fun unless I am in my Xfire.

LOL, I'm still trying to open the stupid car door by pulling on just the handle. Thankfully I get to go home tomorrow and have fun driving again.

I had someone actually try and tell me they liked PT Cruisers, which is what this rental is (I almost refused it), that they were such a fun and cute car. Someone needs to get out more...

I had a PT Cruiser for a rental a few months ago and really liked it. Wouldn't call it entertaining but it was pleasant enough. Loved the nighttime dash. But like you the door handles drove me crazy trying to open them ala Crossfire.

I rented one as well. I thought it was a real sh*tbox. Now the 300 I rented was way cool, and of course the XF is nice too!. Anyone driven the new Sebring? It could be a straight-to-rental vehicle, but the lines are quite nice.

When it came to a rental the choice was either the Cruiser or drive my Dodge. So in comparison the Cruiser was quite nice.

I'd like my car to breakdown one more time so I can nab a new Sebring as a rental just to check it out. I had an 06 Sebring rental earlier in the year and was not impressed at all. The car did nothing wrong, but it didn't do anything outstanding either. Also had a Jeep Liberty for a rental (think I've had a few problems with my Crossfire?) and thought that it was an excellent vehicle.

My upcoming New Year's Resolution: I will drive my Dodge at least one time in 2008.

What part of Indiana are you in doing business?

That's not far from where I live, I'm about 1 hour & 20 minutes north of there. I have a brother that lives there and another brother that lives 20 minutes north of Evansville. They both work at the Toyota plant in Princeton.

I have a P.T. for my daily driver and my Crossfire for weekends. I like the versatility of the P.T. for passengers, hauling and general usage and it just makes the Crossfire more enjoyable on weekends.

rent and had two other people with me...
