Gave a Bentley GT the "WING"
Gave a Bentley GT the "WING"
I was traveling on a local interstate yesterday in the middle lane doing 70 mph with my cruise on, and my wing down. As I approached a slower moving Escort in the right lane about 8 or 10 cars ahead of me, I noticed a white Bentley Continental GT closing on us pretty fast.
As he passed me on the right with the intention of cutting me off (to clear the Escort in his path) he suddenly realized he had miscalculated and had to slam on his brakes because my "cruise controlled" pace had closed the gap on him.
Obviously "miffed" at what he thought was an intentional "foul" on my part. He quickly cut over behind me, and then into the left lane. While passing me at around 80 mph he glanced over and gave me one of "those" looks, and as he pulled away his wing popped up in a rather obscene manner.
After he got well ahead of me, he then slowed down, his wing went down, and moved over to the center lane.
So I figured one good turn deserves another, and I down shifted into 4th and caught up to him pretty quickly. As I passed him around 80 mph, I looked over and just smiled as I raised my wing and gave him a "salute" that both of our cars have in common (and one I think he understood).
(I guess I should explain that I've "rigged" my wing to stay down until I want to put it up manually. I usually only raise it to antagonize somebody, or to please the kiddies).

As soon as I read your first line I though something was awry.

I can now keep it down all the time, but raise it when ever I want to. It won't come down though until I'm below 40 mph. Then I just switch it off, and it stays down.
It's not that I don't like the wing when it's up, it's just that it seems that when ever it goes up, the Kid in the Honda next to me automatically thinks I'm challenging his "manhood".

LOL...that's too funny...
At lunch yesterday I had some kid in a "tuned" Prelude behind me at a red light. (read:coffee can exhaust, GIANT wing on the back of a FWD car, hood scoop, etc...you know the type) He started revving his engine to impress his girlfriend, trying to stare me down the whole time!
I did the only thing I could do...Moved the wing up and down in a "waving bye-bye" motion and dumped 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears as soon as the light turned green!
He didn't even look at me at the next light, and his girl was staring and pointing at my car the whole time! (I think she was laughing at him too)!
Ahhh... youth!
