Default Holy...cow. Insurance.

Hah. So I knew my insurance would be high...I didn't think it would be a grand every 6 months.
Wow. I am seriously shocked. Darn my "high performance vehicle."

Mine is only $450, you must be very young or had a few "incidents" on your record.

I have allstate and I am paying $620 every 6 months, 33 with no tickets for 2007. That is with accident forgiveness, $100 off deductible each renewal period, and new car replacement. I had progressive before that and was paying $1,100 each 6 months.

I would say you did. I know different areas are higher than others, but I only pay $450 for 6 months on my SRT-6. That's with Geico by the way. Oh, and I'm 29 with no wrecks and 1 speeding ticket.

I think it is about time to ditch Allstate then. Crud. And here they had always given me such a good deal.

This is by far the cheapest car to insure out of the 13 I've owned. This thing makes my Corvettes and S2000s look like Ferrari for a 16 year old rates.

Be thankful you don't live in NY. I'm 55, married, no kids in the house and no accidents or tickets in years. Also 3 cars and 2 drivers and only pleasure use and I pay about $1,250 per car (XF, TL, and Grand Cherokee all '05's) per year. The price you pay for living in the Big Apple! Single guys, 25 years old or so with any bad driving experience could probably pay $6,000 a year.

I'll second the vote for GEICO. Give them a call or just go to their website. The few dollars over $600 sounds about right for a 6-month policy.

OUCH!!
You need to go shopping indeed.

I am 45 and no tickets in the past 7 years but I am with State Farm and pay only $645 a year, yes I did say "A Year" although I have 2 other vehicles insured as well as my house.

Boy, it's a tough crowd around here. Ok, I went to my files (which I should have done in the first place) and found that I was wrong; the correct amount is $337.80 for 6-months. There will be some variations due to location, driving record, deductibles, road hazard, towing, etc. but you should be able to get something in this price neighborhood.

Can't you get insurance from anywhere??? I live in Canada but my insurance is from Wyoming I just got North American coverage added in so I'm covered everywhere even in Puerto Rico. I work in the USA so need US coverage for my truck for work but when I bought my car in Canada nobody would cover me because I didn't have a Canadian driver's license anymore but the insurance I go through in the USA said no problem. Just a thought if you want to shop around.

Mine is $545/$500 ded. for 6 months with Geico. It was just under $500 when I had a $1,000 ded., figured the extra $10 was worth it since I'd have to go almost the whole tenure of my loan to make up the other $500 in case the car got in a wreck. Plus the rate is bound to go down (it did after the first 6 months).
