Talking I'm so proud!

After 3+ years of wanting a Crossfire, I finally bought my '04 Blaze Red Limited coupe last month. I've been a huge enthusiast of the car ever since they came out, and owning one has lived up to and beyond my dream so far! I went to show my parents the car the day after I bought it, and made my Dad go drive the car and tell me what he thought of it. We're both big car enthusiasts, but appreciate very different types of cars. I joked with him that if he drove it he'd show up with his own one day. Sure enough, he called me this evening to say he was driving home an '05 black SRT-6 Crossfire coupe! I never thought the day would come when my Father and I would like the same car, much less drive the same one. I've always been a fan of European cars (I've owned 2 DeLoreans), and my Father has been an American Muscle car guy (he's owned his '69 Boss 302 Mustang for 35+ years now). We have extremely different personalities and tastes. My Dad is not a whimsical person in the least, but after he drove my Crossfire he was instantly bit by the bug like I have been for years. I'm 25 and he's 53 and we both drive the same car, how cool is that? I've driven at least a half dozen Crossfires since '04, auto and 6-speed, but have never driven an SRT-6. I absolutely cannot wait to drive an SRT-6! Sorry to ramble guys, I'm just so excited and proud for my Dad!

LOL, I think I actually got excited reading your post. You will want an SRT after you drive your dad's SRT. Congrats to both of you'all.

Cool story, but my story is the other way around, my son who drives a '98 Mustang and was thinking of getting an '04 - '05 Mustang next spring is now thinking of getting a Crossfire after driving my car.
What's funny is that we usually don't agree on much, so how cool is it that we agree that the Crossfire is a hot car and fun to drive.

I'm sure you're dad is as exited and proud as you are that he has something in common with his son.

LouieLouie,

Wow that was one of the very best posts I have read on here. We need to get your dad on here as well! Can't wait to see a picture of both of you with your cars.

Your post just underscores how badly Chrysler handled the Crossfire. People love these cars. They should have flown out of the factory. But have fun, and post pictures when you can

Thanks for the welcomes guys! I've been reading the boards here for about a year now, ramping up my knowledge for ownership. My Dad said he's been reading message boards on them too, so I'm sure he's a member of the site as well. It'll be a week before I'll be able to see his Crossfire (he lives about an hour away), but I'll certainly take pics of the new babies together and post them here! In the meantime I'll post a pic of myself and my car. I've put 2,000 miles on the car in a month because I just can't keep myself from finding an excuse to drive the car. It's just that enjoyable to drive to me. I never thought I'd be as passionate about a new car as I was my classic DeLoreans, but here I am!

Something I wasn't expecting is the way people respond to the Crossfire. I get every bit as much attention, questions, thumbs up, comments, and such from other people in the Crossfire as I did my DeLoreans. People everywhere just LOVE this car. It's really a shame Chrysler fumbled so much on marketing them. The car is really outstanding in my opinion. Everything is extremely high quality and put together well. 4 years later it still get more looks and compliments than any car on the road. My biggest gripes are it's tiny size (I'm 6'3" tall, and it's hard for me to get in and out of it, and I just can't find a perfect balance of leg room vs head room), and the throttle delay issue I hear so much about. Oh yeah, and why do ALL Crossfires I've encountered have a burned out lower seat heater on the drivers side? lol In any event, thanks again for the welcomes. I love my Crossfire!!!

Your car is beauteous. Love that color. A hair dryer will help you take that dealership sticker (at least that's what it looks like in the photo - hard to tell) off the back bumper - a trick I picked up from one of the detailing gurus here on the forum. As for the seat heater question, I dunno. My seat heater works, but it only heats my lower back. Is it supposed to heat more?

BTW - I'm 6'3" too, and I can sympathize with the fit and ingress/egress issues. We're willing to put up with it, cuz we love our Crossfires.

LouieLouie2000 - Congrats to you and your father on your purchases.
I'm 6'2" and know what you mean about getting in and out. It takes some practice, but you get used to it eventually.
BTW, the heated seat elements are a somewhat common problem.

I believe there are 2 elements in each seat. 1 for your 'behind,' and 1 for your lower back.

LouieLouie2000,
A Big Congrats & Welcome to the Forum! I loved reading your Story!
Are you & your Dad both in NC? Why not Both try and make the T of D Meet here in NC/TN on Nov 10 & 11? It would be great for a few Father & Son teams!
We already have a Father & Son in their own Crossfire's coming from South Carolina!

My Best to you Both!

Thanks for the invite Bill! We used to have DeLorean meets and run the Tail of the Dragon. Fun road. My Dad just sent me an invite from the forum (he's started reading it) to go to the meet, so we may just show! I'm in Charlotte, and he's out at Lake Tillery an hour east of Charlotte, so it's a very close hop over there for us. I'll have to wait and see when the time draws a little closer, I stay busy!

Thanks again for all the welcomes. I'm on my first trip in the Crossfire right now. I'm down in the Low Country of South Carolina and am hanging out in Charleston and Savannah. Still loving the car!!!

This wasn't the first time Chrysler had trouble selling an awesome car. Back in the late sixties some of you may remember the Plymouth Super Bird/Dodge Daytona. These cars sat around on dealer lots unsold for over a year sometimes. Try to buy concourse correct one today for under a $ million.

Great! I'll put you & your Dad down as tentative. Please keep me up to date? Thanks again for your story & your consideration!
