Default Stupid newbie question

Ok I have a stupid newbie question. When I turn the key I get the wrench. I know what the wrench means, but it also says -89. That number has not changed. Is this normal? Thanks for your help.

That means that your car is 89 miles past an oil change.

Do a search on FSS reset...

When I got my car with less than 300 miles, it said the exact same thing
(-89). I didn't know if it was because it had been sitting so long, or
why it displayed that number, but I had the oil changed anyway and reset
the display so I didn't worry about it.

Thanks for the answers. The only thing I am kind of upset about is that I thought that the dealer should have done the oil change. I just picked up the car they should have seen that as a service item and changed the oil. I am going to call them and find our what if anything they did yo the car. Thanks again.

It could either be days or miles. If the car has been driven short distances and then you start driving longer distances the FSS can go the other way. I think that's what you are seeing.
