Default brake light

Apparently I need some new brakes. My brake light just came on, it comes on every once and a while, how long can I wait to change them after the light comes on. I know I don't wanna wait too long but right now I don't have to money to get new ones.

Get some Rotex Gold ones and find a local shop to change them out or do it yourself. I think the fronts are like $80 (I can't really remember...too early).

The longer you wait, the more it is going to cost you. But, you can wait until you have no brakes at all in answer to your question.

If you can't afford the brakes, then you can't afford the repair bill when you don't stop!!!

Sounds like you're low on fluid, not brakes. Check the master cylinder...as the brakes wear down the fluid gets lower in the reservoir.

The brake light indicates low brake pads.

If your BRAKE light is coming on, you are low on fluid or you have other problems, you need to get it checked as soon as possible. The low brake pad indicator is a different light, check your owners manual. The low pad light is on the left side of the steering wheel and looks something like this (0) that is the one that tells you that your pads are worn out.
