Another oil filter question
The latest from Alabama:
Changed my oil using a Topsider and retrieved 8.4 qts (used old oilbottles to store for recycling).
Oil was BLACK. Black black.
Filter was OEM Mercedes/Mann Part #'s matched those provided by imabenz. (Not changed @ 10,700 as Dealer/Seller stated.)
Had a long conversation with the service manager at the offending dealership. He offered 2 extra "free" oilchanges "for my trouble".
I replied that his monkeys wouldn't be allowed within 50 feet of my car but I would take the oil and filters to do the work myself.
He agreed.
Now, here's where it gets good:
I was told by both the service writer and my salesman that there were 6 other Crossfires bought/sold along with mine This was offered as "proof" that all of them were serviced at the same time.
I told the service manager that I wanted proof (phone calls or emails from the owners to me)that these other owners were notified that their oil needed to be changed ASAP.
Before he could answer, I told him that, at no cost to him, I would take out an ad in the 2 local papers calling out for all xFire owners from this dealership to contact the service department to discuss overlooked services. He replied "You wouldn't". I responded with "I'm a Yankee, you can trust me".
He agreed.
I'll pick up my first set of oil and filter after the Tail of the Dragon next weekend. That should be ~ 1,000 miles to help flush out the 10,000 miles of gook in the pan.
What a pain it is dealing with the dishonest.
Once again, Thanks to all. Especially imabenz.
