Even though the dealer I'm buying the car from was wrong about the car having the 7/70 power-train warranty, I'm still going through with the purchase and will buy the 7/60 maxicare warranty on my own (still works out to be a good deal on a nice, clean car).
Thanks,
Brian
Re: Chrysler Max Care Extended Warranty Todk64
But if you're going to get the 7/60 MaxCare extended warranty then basically your 3year 36,000 mile warranty continues on for another four years and however many miles before 60,000. MaxCare is a BUMPER TO BUMPER warranty just like your original 3 year 36,000 mile new car warranty. There's really no comparison to the 7/70 power train warranty which only covers drive train failures.

The car I'm (hopefully) getting only has ~ 18K miles on it, so for me time was more important then mileage. It's too bad they don't offer an 8yr, or lifetime plan without having a CPO (which still won't get you an 8 year maxicare, only the power-train) or a 12 month or newer car which would qualify for the lifetime warranty plan.

My "new" Xfire built in '05, registered as an 06, in service date 8/07. I purchased three weeks ago ( 8/08) with 1939 miles on it. Currently has 4500 miles on it. This car will be driven 10-20,000 miles per year on the open highway. I was anticipating purchasing MaxiCare. I want to do two "mods" on the car; MagnaFlow exhaust (already ordered) and K&N or Green Filters. Is that going to cause problems with the MaxiCare Extended Warranty?
I live in a very small town. The local Chrysler dealer is also the Ford dealer as well as Dodge truck dealer. I'm 170 miles from a "real" Chrysler dealer. There is a local independent mechanic in town who services almost every "special" car for miles around, including my DeLorean and several Mercedes. If he stamps my warranty service book (which he does for others) and performs the required service, will that cause me a problem later?
Can I purchase the contract through you, Tod?

I don't want to take anything away from them, and I would tell anyone to purchase a Chrysler warranty instead of a 3rd party warranty.
The main service contract we sell is the Maximum Care plan. As long as your car is under 48,000 miles and within 48 months from the in-service date, it is eligible for this coverage. It extends the 3/36 bumper to bumper to a 7 yr/70,000 miles.
This includes: All Electrical Systems, All Engine Computers, Shocks, Torsion Bars, Engine Mounts, All Seat, Hood, Deck Lid, Convertible Tops, Window Mechanisms, Engine, Transmission, Driveline, Steering, Air Conditioning, Engine Cooling and Fuel Systems, Front and Rear Suspension, Anti-Lock Brakes. I'm sure you get the picture.
Its easier to tell you that it doesn't cover: Maintenance, Oil Changes, Glass, Plastic Lenses (Fogged Headlights) Paint and Soft Trim, Brake Pads and Rotors, Belts. There are up to 5007 Mechanical Components that are covered.
This plan is also Transferable to the next owner for $50.00. You can chose your deductible of $100, $50, or $0.00. And you can also have the entire amount refunded back to you from Chrysler if the time (7yrs) expires and it hasn't been used.
I have been able to quote people a savings of around $600 - $900 off of Chryslers retail price. We are doing this on a cost + basis. However, there is not a clear cut price. It all depends on what coverage is on your car now. Year, Miles, Certified, SRT-6, these factors all play a role. I'll be glad to give anyone a quote, I just need your last 8 VIN# and current miles. The average price I've seen so far (w/ $100.00 Deductible) has been $2,100 - $2,500 Retail, and we have been between $1,500 - $1,700.

Just thought I'd repeat this as I'm still getting PM's about purchasing extended warranties from a lot of new members. Also include a phone number and a time that you can be reached for Jeremy too.
Thanks guys,

Todk64,
I purchases a used 04 Crossfire with 60,000 miles, is there any type of warranty that I could get for my vehicle? I purchased it through a used car lot.

Re: Chrysler Max Care Extended Warranty Todk64
I have always thought extended warantees were a rip off. I think they are a good deal for the people selling them. When I bought my 05 LTD roadster the dealer pushed hard to sell me an extended warrantee but I declined. He looked rejected and I'm sure it had nothing to do with the commission he would have made. By the way, does anyone know how much the selling commission is? The items that are not covered might make it worthwhile like fogged headlight lenses. I think the best solution would be to put some money in a savings account and don't touch it till you need a repair. Just my 2 cents worth.
