Default No 2008 Base Coupes, No Michelin Tires

Hey guys,
Just thought I'd throw this on here. There are NO Base Crossfires in the ordering pool. Also, you can't special order a 2008. (They've already been built.) While going through the inventory screen, if you remove option TU9 (Continental All Season Tires), they all go away. So from what it looks like to me, they only built Limiteds and they put Continentals on all of them. Also doesn't look like much of a color choice is out there. The majority that I've seen are Blaze Red or Black. There have been a few Aero Blue. Right now Chrysler is giving dealers $8,500 in Dealer Cash + $1,500 in floor plan assistance on 2008 models.

Has anyone seen a Base model 2008, or one that had Michelin Pilots?

the use of only the continental all-season tires was probably done to reduce costs.

I'm not sure, but I believe the all-season tires listed on the window sticker for more money than the pilots.

The Continentals are a $185 option, my guess is that these were what were left.

I have noticed that there are 2007's for sale, but I have yet to see any 2008's for sale in my general area. When will the 2008's be available?

I've been told that I can have a 2008 here within 2-3 weeks. They are ready to ship. But with Dealers sitting on 2007's, I can see why they don't have them on their lots.

they Continental ContiTouringContact CW95 were a peculiar option in that they added $185 to the sticker price for equipment that was substantially cheaper than the standard tire. since crossfires sell at such deep discounts, they will simply put the cheaper tire on.

Nothing wrong with the color choices.

Thanks for the response Tod. I was just curious. It would make sense to me that the pattern would continue as it has. 2007's arrived in Greensburg approximately 2 months ago, give or take a month. So I would imagine that if that trend continues I won't see 2008's shipped en masse until about 10 months from now. That is assuming Hillview Motors even wants any. Although so far they have been the only Chrysler dealership in a 75+ mile radius that even gets new Crossfires shipped to them. Anyway, this only all interests me because I plan on buying another new Crossfire before they are all gone, and I am trying to get a time frame on what the longest I can wait is. I don't need one and I already have one so the longer the better. By the way, everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Tod is it true that only roadsters were being built?

There are 2008 Limited Coupes and Limited Roadsters sitting right now waiting for dealers to pick them up. I'm going to speak with out District Manager today and see if he has any idea on production numbers. I'll also have a little time later today to get into the inventory to check on other colors / interior combos.

Are you sure there is coupes as well because on the canadian chrysler website you can only order roadsters or is this only in canada?

It looks like, give or take, 1,329 2008 Crossfires were produced. Total Crossfire production was around 75,500.

It is my understanding that there will be Limited coupes and roadsters coming as 2008s. We will see I guess.
Kind of funny, this sort of thing happens every year. Last year was 'Will there be 07's etc. Guess 08' will be the last of the last.

Also, my guess is there will be ~ 78,000 Crossfires built in total.

Haven't previously seen the Red/Grey interior in what looks like an SSB car. Seems like an odd choice.

Did they ever offer monotone interiors in other than Dark Grey? Like all red or all vanilla?

Another Update...
The cars are NOT on US soil as of yet. They are on their way. (On the boats) We have been told that we can have a 2008 on our lot within 2 weeks, so they should be landing on our shores any time now. Again, the only thing I've seen out of the ordering pools are Limited Coupes and Limited Convertibles, all with Continental tires.

Just got some prices from our District Manager today, he also said right around 1,300 '08 Crossfires, so the 1329 number from Rob seems right on.

Rob M, where did you get that number?

Chrysler's recall database. Every VIN is entered in the system when the vehicle is manufactured. According to the database, the last 2007 was 7X074262. the highest number recorded so far for an '08 is 8X075591. 75,591 - 74,262 = 1,329. so unless they're still being manufactured, that is likely the last which is why i also suggested a total production run of a little over 75K units. there are a few skipped VINs, especially early on; perhaps they were crash test units or for some other purpose.
