trade crossfire for Z4 coupe?
Mine isn't my daily driver or I would feel different. The SRT has a firm ride and isn't the most comfortable car in the garage. It's just very fun to drive. If I had to sit in traffic with it, then I'd hate it. It depends on your situation. Now the only car that I would trade it for at this point is 05' or newer 911. Just looks not performance or status. There are some good deals out there with the real estate market the way it is. I guarantee you there are some agents and mortage brokers dying to get out of their 07's they bought when the market was hot. This is definately a time to bargain big time, even for a bmw. The money is drying up and a recession hit's those luxury cars pretty good. I would be itchin to buy something else if I had the same car since 04'. I have to rotate between 4 cars to keep from the itch. Good luck in whatever you do. There is enough knowledge on this board to help you find the best deal.

Thanks for all the useful replies.
For now the Z4 trade has been put off, the deal fell through when the dealer would give me $6,000 less on the trade for the xfire than he was willing to give me in early august!
this meant the deal was my car + $29,000, that was a no brainer...
I have been debating about waiting for the 135i, but its looks don't do much for me.
I am also waiting to see what the 2009 350Z might be like...but if they keep the same vQ brutish engine in it, it will again be a no brainer...sounds like a coffee grinder from inside the car as car and driver put it.

Clearly the M coupe is a slow mover on the lot.
This is why I bought one...if it interest anybody the UK is similar, though you won't get 20% off a new one. The car did not do well at launch, and I think thats due to price. A fully loaded example was £46,000. A well specced M3 would be around £49,000...and that has four seats, the same engine and is better known. So it became a niche car, and BMW even revised their residual values for those who bought one on finance.
BMW built and registered the excess cars for use by BMW GB staff to keep production numbers up, and these cars flooded the UK market 8 weeks ago - when they hit 6 months old. If you wanted an 06/07 Z4MC 8 weeks ago, there were about 100 to choose from...and I was one of those people that struck while the iron was hot.
Mine had less than 1,000 miles on it, 11 months old and I got virtually a 35% discount on a new one (though mine is not an ex BMW GB car). If I wanted a Cayman of similar specification it would have cost me $25,000 USD MORE. Now, Z4MCs are leveling right off as you can have one for a minor premium over the 3.0 Coupe and values are not expected to plummet like they have done. In fact looking at the approved BMW website I can sell mine for more than I paid as prices have risen slightly and all the BMW GB cars are all but gone...maybe the same luck in the US? Especially as its about to go out of production.
Its a great car, and although I hate the Z4 Roadster, for me the looks of the Z4MC work. Its not a pretty car, but its dramatic and the roofline massively improves the proportions. Has to be black though IMO, its kinda batmobile like.

Wow -- that sequence of economic events really sounds familiar, doesn't it? So the Crossfire is far from alone; other stylish cars with our body type and high original MSRP are doing exactly the same thing, regardless of whether the brand is called Chrysler Crossfire, BMW Z4M, Cadillac XLR/XLR-V, MB SL550, etc. That's a very interesting observation to keep in mind.
That Z4 coupe is a beauty. However I have always been drawn much more to the Z3 coupe. Something about the grill just does it for me. Have you looked into pricing on a Z3 M coupe? I am sure it would be just as fun and cost less.
funny I almost bought a Z3 m coupe before buying my previous car, a 350Z...always regretted not getting the M coupe.
I still like it, but not as much as the z4 coupe.

Somebody on here once said the Z4 looks like The Ambiguously Gay Duo's car from Saturday Night Live. I can't look at one now without thinking that.
I think they're awkward-looking and don't understand why anyone would choose a Z4 - coupe or roadster - over an SRT-6.

I told her to get the sports car now, pay it off, THEN buy the SUV when you have kids.
So, that's what we did. We first started looking at her favorite car - the Z3 Coupe. Of course, I had to have the M series...the standard 3.0 wouldn't work. I also wanted the newer engine (01+?), and that bumped the price some. Low mileage was required, and warranty preferred. When I got to that point, we were looking at 19-25K, depending on condition. NONE of them were local, as there aren't many to begin with. So...we put that on hold a bit. I then started looking at the Z4 Coupe because they were new and all had warranty, low miles, etc...but they were too $$$, and gave that up also (had to have the M, couldn't settle for the 3.0).
The wife came home one day and said "I saw this car today with lines on the hood...it was AWESOME! I WANT ONE!" I knew exactly what it was and happened to find a used limited XFire for around $16,500 with under 20k miles in perfect shape. We bought it...and I was disappointed in the performance (handles and drives great, good mileage, but not enough power). So, I started looking at the SRT and that's where we are now.
I still like the Z4, and would love to park one next to my(HER) SRT6...but wouldn't park one in its place. With that being said...I've never driven a Z4 M Coupe...so my opinion may change if I got the opportunity to drive one.
