crossfire pissing me off
ok so i love my car but a few things make me upset.
1. why is the turn around value so crappie on xfire under 15k? i mean it has leather and over 200 horses pt cruisers sell for that much!
2. chrysler has made me feel like they have given this car up for adoption, and mercedes was the sperm donor.
3. various problems like, funny headlamps that 80% of owners seem to have foggy lamps.
4. no aftermarket parts.
i can go on,
but why i love the car, and these problems could be fixed by the manufacture, it just seems like they don't care about crossfire anymore and instead of helping ot the crossfire with things like headlamps that don't fog they waste the time on concept cars like firepower that look like a crossfire on juice and no one will buy for 60k. you can get a corvette starting at 45k. don't know how strong xfire future looks like right now. will i own this car in 4 years? will i want to own this car in 4 years? what do you guys think?

1. When you buy a car like the Crossfire that creates an emotional attachment what difference does resale value make? The lower prices allow people who really wanted one the chance to own one.
2. DaimlerChrysler DID give up on this car. I think it was because Chrysler pulled a fast one on their Poppa. The "cast off" that was going to use up the old parts wound up being a better vehicle than the new toy from MB.
3. The headlight issue is common on most headlamps similar to the design of those on the Crossfire. We could always go back to the round sealed beams.
4. The lack of specific aftermarket parts has been a concern. After all the Crossfire is a low production vehicle. But on the bright side. There have been more items available this last year and the picture looks pretty good actually considering we aren't talking Civic volumes.
I would guess some of the reasons you love the car are its style, performance and exclusivity. I think those are the things that most of us are drawn to. Add to that a very affordable entry price and it becomes one of the best kept secrets on the road today.
The Crossfire is dead. Long live the EXISTING Crossfires!

SRT SIX , you sum it up pretty good. there are a lot of issues to complain about, but when it comes right down to it I love mine and hope to have it for a very long time, I still get the same feeling driving it that I did when I first test drove it. I will admit I don't depend on mine for daily transportation, it is a "weekend" car that I can't seem to stop racking up the miles on, I know my daily drivers have a better resale value than my Crossfire, but it is still my "baby" and the one I worry the most about door dings and stone chips.
To be perfectly honest I liked the Crossfire from the concept car, but I never even drove one til the bottom started to drop out, and once I drove it, I knew I had to have it. My situation was that I knew I couldn't afford a $30,000 plus "toy" but $19,000 was a little easier to justify. either way I am glad I have it now and hope to enjoy it for a long time.
That being said, it is home safe in the garage now, it was a beautiful, albeit, cold day yesterday but we drove her home in a snowy ice storm last night, so that is probably it for a while, probably won't drive it much for the next 3 months or so, and that is what is going to "**** me off".

I gave up my red limited XFIREX because it lacks power. I looked around for a replacement and was on the list for the 2007 Exige. I ended up buying an '05 Aero Blue SRT-6.
Is it the car or it's just me who can't let go of the car?

We were looking to replace our '04 with a roadster. Every car I tried just wasn't as good as the Crossfire to me. I'm glad I found my SRT6.
If the price didn't come down I would be stuck with a Saturn Sky or Pontiac. The crossfire is way better.

I also own an SSR Chev pickup roadster, it also was discontinued and Chevy does not seem to care a whole bunch about the SSR owners. The prices dropped like a lead balloon on remaining inventory. That was Great news for me. I was able to purchase a brand new car at a huge discount.
Now guess what, after the prices hit bottom, since the last year was 2006
they have begun to stabilize and in fact are starting to climb again.
if you plan to sell your Crossfire, you will need to sell to a private party and not a dealer.
a private party will look at the condition and blue book value.
I just purchased my second Crossfire an '07 limited coupe. again with a $14K plus discount and there are other New Crossfires out there at the same savings. What a time to buy, its a buyers market. But not true for sellers, the point is if your planning to keep your car, I believe like the SSR's after they have hit bottom, there's no where to go but up. Remember no more being built means if in the future some ones wants a Crossfire, they have one option, buy from us. The Crossfire is not just going to fade away, its to beautiful a car. Its just a time to give folks a chance at owing one.
and I say if you don't own one, BUY!

I'm glad there's two models, because we wouldn't have bought ours without it being a droptop. But to the general issues raised earlier, that's just par for the course for vehicles like the Crossfire. If there were a big demand, the prices would go up. Unique cars like the Crossfire don't appeal to 95% of people, but the other 5% love them. Call me crazy, but I'm usually proud to be in the minority!
