There is no reason for no spare tire, all cars have them, except the corvette, and then they have run-flats. As far as Porsche's are concerned, I've had many and only one leaked any amount of oil. Its not a big problem with them and most are easily fixed by a backyard wrench. If and when these xfires have any mileage and years on them, then we can talk about reliability and resale value, until them enjoy your ride, I am. And Fyrepower, yes the 911 design has been around a very long time because it is one of the best there ever was.
Leaking oil is a well known joke with porshe owners....all cars are different, I research everything before I buy and always will....if i have a issue I make sure I have the funds to take care of it.....My son loves Porsche however I never liked those little cockroaches...

I dont know what's STUPID about that statement, unless you're the brainchild who invented the 2 plug head. 99% of the cars today run on 1 plug, so I guess all those designers were STUPID to come up with that idea. Maybe the same person who thought up this was also the one who designed the STUPID cup holder on these cars; now there's a real bright idea.

I knew the engine had 2 plugs per cylinder, but I didn't know the NUMBER of plugs and lack of spare tire was an indication that the Crossfire is a serious performance car :-) That stupid Viper GTS of mine ... 10 spark plugs and a spare tire. But the Crossfire has 12 plugs and no spare. I knew the Crossfire felt faster, but now I understand why it's true ....

Mike

P.S. Laugh a little - Don't take this too seriously. It's a car after all.

I guess Ducati doesn't know engines either. Ever heard of the Ducati Dual spark motor? Yes, it's a small motorcycle engine, but the same concept applies.

As for Porsches, they are over priced Volkswagens IMO. Well, that's kinda how they started at least.

Since the prices of these are so low it made a nice fit. I was a little shocked to find out that it requires as much oil as my Viper LOL and 2 more spark plugs. It does not bother me in the least. I do wish parts were a little more reasonable but that is the cost we pay.

Here is a link to my site with my cars and girlfriend.

What exactly is your website about? Pictures of your GF and some cars? Is that just some kind of personal site or something?

Well, actually, the Xfire (SRT-6 at least) is a serious performance car. I challenge anyone to argue that point! Seems C and D magazine would agree since the SRT won a heads up comparo against a Boxter S and a Nismo 350 Z.

Vipers are fast, but C'mon, anything would be fast with a big lump of a truck engine stuffed in the engine compartment. Vipers are like modern interpretations of the old Muscle car. Little car with big motor make speed. I know, I have a 1965 Chevelle that runs mid 11s.

Most Aircraft engines have two plugs.

I like the car its fun to drive and gets good gas milage if you keep you foot out of it.

I have a 3/4 ton Surburban with a 454 and it get 8mpg towing or not.

I also have a 2006 Jeep Commander with the 5.7 Hemi. want to talk about a fast SUV that is it. All wheel drive.... and power.. Love it.

and well the best for last a 1963 VW Single Cab truck... Top speed 65mph downhill with a tail wind.

The public has shown how much they admire and demand this car, because the prices are dropping like the Dow Jones in 1929
So what do you tribute this to? Is it the affiliation with Chrysler?

I have always looked for unique used cars that were under priced.....And coincidently I just purchased a 2005 Roadster LE Auto and GPS Navigation with 12,000 miles for.....19,000

If you want to maximize resale try advertising North of the border however I will warn you the bumper absorbers need to be changed to comply with Canadian standards......The same car as above is listed on a lot in Victoria Canada for 34,000

Another used car that was good value was the Dodge or Eagle 2000GTX 89-92 which was really a Misubishi Gallant. Chrysler took this car on before Mitsubishi had dealerships in North America....I owned an 89. and later purchased a 92 for my sons first car,

"The Dodge was offered in a sport sedan model. The Sport model had full-time all-wheel drive, ground effects, 8-star allow wheels, spoiler, and the 135hp DOHC 2.0 L engine. The car themselves drive extremely smooth and handle amazingly well on account of there anti-sway bars in the rear and huge coil shocks up front. The motors perform fairly well and can move the cars at surprising speeds; in fact the DOHC engine is still used in the mighty Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser. The only downfall to these cars was there high price and poor automatic transmissions, but aside from these facts the Dodge 2000 GTX was and is a great car." > I used an additive in my transmission and it never let me down.

I rode in a mint Turbo charged GTX2000 in Victoria, Canada. It was stupid fast taking most anything on at the light. I'm sure the AWD traction helped.

I'd enjoy your comments.

Cheers!

Not only Ducati but Alfa Romeo has been producing a twin spark plug per cylinder motor since the 80's.

Come on. Did you really just say that? Last I checked, most Ferrari's are the same way too. And Lamborghini. Lotus. These are true sports cars. I can remember when the Cayenne was first coming out, Porsche People were losing their minds. They couldn't beleive that Porsche was going to build its first 4-door in over 50 years. If you got it right the 1st time, why change it? Its also why I love Ducati motorcycles.

Well, if you are hinting that the Crossfire isn't a true sports car, I'd have to disagree 100%. I've owned many sports cars over the years including a Vette, MG, and yes, a Porsche. The SRT-6 is a true sports car. I'll put that car up against just about anything.

As for Ducati, they are my favorite, but mostly because of the history and the fact that I love twins. What is funny though is that Buells get knocked on constantly. They get scoffed at for using air cooled engines, and old technology in their engines; however, they are more powerful, use similar technology, are better handling, lighter, and faster than the air cooled Ducatis. The Ducatis however are praised and admired. My XB12s was the best motorcycle I've ever owned. I recently sold it though to pay for a house. The air-cooled Monsters and Sport Classics have about 80hp and 67 ft/lbs of torque. My XB had 100 hp and over 74 ft/lbs of torque. It was awesome!

The old "426" style Hemi only had 1 spark plug per cylinder. There was a special "twin plug" factory designed head that was for drag racing use though.

WOW! you can all get down right nasty sometimes!!!

My turn!

I like my crossfire that's why I bought it, didn't know about the plugs but I did know about the spare tire or lack of.

Now I've had problems with mine and the dealership sucks but I'm keeping the car, mostly beacuse its worth half of what I paid for it.

Anyway, I'm convinced that Chrysler dropped the ball with this car, and that is what really PISSES ME OFF!!!

The problems you see in the '04 are going to be the problems with the '08 they haven't really addressed anything.

Cup holder, shifter (manual), head lights, and I personally find the steering not so good, lack of feel. You get the idea.

And know they're going to kill it, It's the Fiero all over again......no wait.........GM fixed most of the problems before they killed it.

What the hell are they thinking....

Now Porsche is constanly improving their design, I respect that.

By the way I personaly think AUDI is the greatest car company ever!

HA!

I owned one of the last Fiero GT's. I drove it for 10 years. It was a fun car. But the Fiero is no where near in the same league as the Crossfire.

Wow, that's a bargain!
The Chrysler dealer told me they wanted $300 for a set, and they were supposed to be changed every 15k miles. What a crock!

They don't use cups..they have steins for their beer. They know americans stop at starbucks every chance they get. I think this is their revenge for us fighting back during the Hitler days. This is supposed to be a joke..

The simple solution is get a divorce...Then you'll only have 6 plugs to deal with... :-)
