I will admit the Xfire is pretty cool, but no where near as cool as the 8! Unless it's an SRT-6...then I might have a one night stand with the Xfire haha

Fine automotive engineering? For something so fine, Mercedes and Chrysler sure don't seem to be working too much together anymore

The Xfire has flaws just as the 8 does, neither car could be considered fine automotive engineering. Especially since a statement like that is an opinion, you can never unanomously declare a car that, there's always going to be some kind of flaw in a car people won't like, and if it isn't there, they'll find something to B**** about!

Classic syling on the other hand, I'd say both of them have. The RX-7 had it when it came out, the way it looks is timeless, I can see the same for the Xfire and the 8. They both have an "out there" approach to car styling that makes them unique.

As far as looking cool, why thank you for the compliment, I happen to think I do look cool when driving the 8 - And there's nothing wrong when a car brings you such joy it makes you feel like a kid again

WOW, I've read this whole thread and all I can say is "how in the world did this get so heated?" Things never get this crazy in the srt section, LOL. I was actually thinking of getting an 8, but when I seen how cheap the srt's were I couldn't resist. I like both rx8s and N/A xfires. Bothe are nice cars and have their own particular strong suites. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I'd like to say welcome to the rx8 owners who came to this forum. I promise, its not always this hostile (unless you talk trash about my PATS ).

I like Mazdas. I have owned several and they were all great cars. About the only Mazda I haven't owned is are the RX models. Not that I don't like them, just haven't been that high on the rotary engine. I really did like the last of the RX-7 models as they were hot cars with that twin turbo setup.

My major problem with the RX-8 is that it is a four seater. And, in my mind, sports cars just don't have four seats.

I know how it got heated, but it's starting to get better so I don't want to point fingers and have a recap of before

 

I like the idea that it has 4 seats, I hardly ever use them for people carrying, but they do hold quite a bit of junk when I need them to

I'd rather have the 4 seats and never use them, than not have them and some day need them.

But, at the same time, most sports cars do have some type of seating for extra passengers.

A Roadster however, THAT is something that you shouldn't in your mind think 4 seats

That Brit JC doesn't like any car associated with an American Car Company unless it's built in England. He's a loon. He's strictly bias. Watch his videos and then you'll see. Can't believe anybody takes this mans opinion as fact. What's that saying? Opinions are like.........everybody has one.

 

I hardly see how him going "This car is very good, but I'll never have it, since it's from america." classifies him as a loon.

All you have to do is tune out the anti-american crap and realise it's just a gag.

The car is pretty much all mercedes, america just put it all together. Is anything he said about the car a lie? Normally when people listen to those videos all they say is "Oh well he's biased, he hates america!" They never say anything about that anything he said about the car not being true to some extent.

I know what you're talking about though. He doesn't completely trash any car to oblivion if it's from america though, he will be a bit more negative about it, but he does tell it like it is. Whenever they did the C06 Vette, he said "Bah well I hate to admit it, but the car is brilliant", of course he had some nit picky things here and there, but he said over all it's a great car.

Same thing with the C5, it was a good car, and one of the things he b****ed about was that it used leaf springs. Who cares?! He still said over all it's a good car to have.

People focus WAY too much about the stupid negative things he says just as a joke, if people laugh and think it's funny when he makes jokes about america, then why would he not say something about it?

Just get over that hump and the show is actually enjoyable.

All I'm going to say is, even though he is negative, he still does have positive things to say about every car, but he didn't have much of anything to say about the Xfire. And when it was the RX-8, the only thing he b****ed were the stock tires, which are bad.

BUT that isn't to say thats the end all be all for the car, it's only one persons opinion.

I actually use the SRT6 as my daily driver... since it's my only car, it's kind of required.

I don't have any problem with the cargo hatch for groceries... larger items however...

My wife and I really like the car though and I have a blast at the track... so it's all good bro.

If you want an un-bias opinion go to Consumer Reports. At least they don't take advertising dollars from the company's they review. Un-like Top Gear. They give both the RX-8 and Crossfire a Recommend. Now back to the Brit. I just watched a video where he puts a two seat Lotus vs a Mustang. Can't say anthing bad about his beloved British Made Lotus and refers to it as a Triumph of British Engineering. "Come on" they slaped a supercharger on a Toyota engine and his giving credit to the British for it's engineering. If their such great engineers why didn't they engineer their own engine. It's that kind of dribble coming from this guy that makes him suck a joke. It took the Ford Motor Company to turn the Jaguar into a car which can actually stay on the road more than it stayed in the shop. But this guy will never give them credit. I will agree he is entertaining to watch and I know it's just his opinion. But I can't take him seriously because there's no logic to his reviews. You and I could, and most any person on these forums could do what this guy does. I guarantee we couldn't be much worse. What makes this man an expert. Where's are his Credentials which makes him so right-on.

 

Everyone remembers Clarkson's negative comments about the Crossfire coupe but they're all quick to forget the roadster comparison Top Gear did in Iceland a year or so later.

Crossfire, 350Z, Audi TT roadsters..........and Clarkson said out of the three he'd have the Crossfire. So there.

 

I normally wouldn't post, but for some reason I just had to ask.....

Why is a non-Crossfire owner posting on this forum about how great another car is unless he's wanting to get a reaction?

We all have our likes and dislikes, that's what makes us unique. However, we should NEVER criticize someone for that or discount their choice. We can not ever fully put ourselves in anothers shoes and there may be reasons why we live where we live or drive what we drive or whatever.

I love my car. I bought it for my own reasons. If you don't like it, that's your choice and it won't affect me whatsoever. Every car will have its flaws and not everyone will like it. It's not perfect but it's perfect for me and that's all that matters to me. However, when someone tells me they bought a new car and they are excited about it, I'm excited for them. It may not be what I'd like or my choice, but who am I to degrade them for buying it.

However, if they are bragging and boasting, I'll step up to the plate. I'm normally quiet and reserved, but I'm not shy or timid.

I will say this....you won't find me posting on another site about how much my car is better because blah blah blah. That's just hitting people up for reactions and I can't stand that from anyone regarding anything. I normally don't have time for that, however, I'm taking a break and thought I'd share my 2 cents.

Btw, this forum has been very helpful. I've had a lot of good assistance and just its been enjoyable to read about finding out things with the car (like checking the oil level from inside the car) and just good fyi's.

Well if you took the time to READ the whole thing, you'd see that it started as a joke that happend to a fellow RX-8 owner on our forum and I thought I'd post it here.

Then afterwards it became into a pissing contest.

I think we can all agree that the Z is pretty bad. I didn't like it when I test drove, interior felt really cheap and easy to brake.

 

i raced my buddies rx8(mt, stock) and beat him by about 1/2 a car to 2 cars every time...then again i am alot better driver than he is, i figure this would be a drivers race, with the crossfire having a slight advantage
