Emissions Test Today

Emissions Test Today
Today I took my Crossfire for it's yearly emissions test. It is required in Illinois. Since I bought the car in April last year it was my first trip to the emissions test station with the Crossfire. As I pulled into the test lane heads started turning. As it turns out nobody has ever brought a Crossfire to this particular test facility. The attendant (an older gentleman) began to look for the diagnostic connection under the dash.
(what's the name for that thing?)
As he was not familiar with this car he seemed to be having a difficult time locating it.
I ask him if he is familiar with the Mercedes SLK320. He says yes. I said pretend that is what this car is and you may find the connector you are looking for. He found it quickly and said "Well I'll be damned" your registration says "Chrysler"
I Begin to tell him the history behind the manufacturing of the Crossfire just as all the others that work there are walking over to check out the car. They all admired the car as they had not ever really seen one or at least close up. A few moments later the test was complete and the car naturally passed the emissions test. I drove off with a smile as they all watched me pull away.
Another feeling of pride owning this car. Gary

WOW......Michigan dropped mandatory Emissions testing at least a decade ago. I think they found out too many shops were "cheating" the test just to get people to spend money.
