Default Opinion on a CF hood

Hi ya all!! So I know its hard to find parts for this car. But I really want a carbon fiber hood for my car. I found someone who will do it for me but i need your alls opinion! He said he can either mold a new cf hood or he can take my hood take it down to being raw metal and go from there by wrapping it and so on...

Do you think I should just spend the extra money to get a new hood? Or should i just send him my stock hood and use that one?

Thanks for your alls opinions! It really helps!

And i will deff post some pics once its done! I have alot plannned for my car happening this month so it should be good!!!

Well um... price wise it would be significantly cheaper to just rap the stock hood, but if you're going for weight reduction then you'll need a whole new CF hood. Would you paint it or leave it bear carbon when it's done?

I was going to get a few things in CF but the price wasn’t worth it and I was going to paint them gray again... so instead I upgraded the suspension, brakes and a few other things with change left over to buy gas

It would be fruity for a guy, but you should be in good standing with it.

You're painting the complete hood pink? Or leaving some carbon exposed? I'm confused LOL

My opinion of carbon fiber hoods is that they look stupid unless the whole car is bare carbon fiber, like crazy racecar business. For the money I'd do something useful rather than make my car look like a honda. I say leave the hood alone.

If you are going to do it then at least do it right and make a new hood.

yea the carbon will still be expossed. the hood will look more black with a pink tint to it.

I think Im just going to go with the new hood. Its just something ive always had on every car. My car will be performance first and show later. My friend is makin a turbo setup for me. something i never see with these cars. so i guess we will all see how everything turns out this season! but thanks for the opinions i did get!!

Well if you're going all out pink don't forget to add this:

That could be the icing on the cake...

And where in Gtown did you find someone to put a turbo on a benz

+1 on that.. why just the hood? I understand if you want the whole car layered in carbon fiber, but the hood just makes it like a pathetic ricer!! I don't know it is your car do what you want, but it dissapoints me that they have gotten so cheap that people even consider mods this horrid..

if you want outter parts layered you can also contact forum member SRT_SIX he is the "carbon fiber" business

I Noticed you ride a gsxr-750 that is ******* awesome +1 chicks riding that monster is very sexy!!!

No offense, people's taste is their own decision, but I think we have just found the first Crossfire to sink below the $5,000 resale value threshold.

Agreed! This car is (once was) a sophisticated, upper class German sports car. The only reason it is affordable now is because of the badge on the car. Because of this, we are seeing younger and younger owners with much younger automotive tastes. Some of us are a bit older with slightly different tastes. Maybe we should start a separate thread area for "Tuners." That would keep some of the flaming down to a minimum and give that crowd a place to share ideas about their cars such as what decals to use, different Type R badges to use, which shift ***** to use and what LEDs look good under the car. Just kidding with you. My advise is to Treat the car with taste and restraint. Maybe add some tasteful wheels, or suspension mods to help the car perform a little better. There is no need to JDM this car or rice it out. Not sure what kind of car crowd you hang out with, but you can be a leader in class vs. tacky racing stripes, carbon add ons, and flourescent paint. Just opinions, this is your car. Some of us are just older and probably a bit fuddy duddy compared to what you're used to. I can even tell by your typing that I am not as hip as I used to be. For instance, it took me a minute to figure out some of your short hand, hip text.

Whoa...sounds like we will need a good photo for the 2009 XFire calendar. Your car will be as unusual as the Lambo door cars are. In fact you need to post photos now. I'm having trouble mentally visualizing the wheel setup you have. Are they OEM XFire wheels?

look you guys talked all kinds of $hit about putting the 22's on mine about how it was going to be a donk and that my wheels are going to fall off but at the same time i was riding some srt a$$ the whole time, and now a few months late... who would have thunk it my wheels are still on. so before you go and talk $hit or same somethings ugly wait and view the results. oh and silver thanks for the heads up on this thread.

now as for ther topic of a carbon hood, i would also love to see a carbon widebody kit, front and rear fenders bumpers hatch. if you look up the stuff for the rx7 youll get my idea, i think a set of 16" wide tires would be really nice on this car with like some bbs split wheels and a 6 inch lip plus all the cf wow. that my friends would be a mean looking vehicle. oh and an invader style hood or a multi heat extractor style would be awesome. my .02

I saw picture somewhere that had an accord(?) with lambo doors next to a Gallardo, and it said something to the effect of "Lamborghinis don't even have Lambo doors anymore" I mean personal taste is what it is.. but I think lambo doors are kind of on the same plane as CF hoods nowadays. plus.. how do you get out if the car rolls over?
