Another New Owner
Bought a 2004 Graphite/black a couple of weeks ago from CarMax in Plano, Texas. Orginally intended for the wife but after I drove it, I said "I could do this". Had to get out of my Miata after spinning out on a semi-slick street (no traction or traction controls). Have since also bought a 2003 BMW 325ic convertible from the same place. We both love sports cars and convertibles. I considered 2 birds with one stone but like the looks of the hardtop on the XF better than the Roadster. It will be fun deciding each day which car we will drive. A nice dilemma!
CarMax has had my XF longer than we have. They agreed to fix the broken driver seat heater (they had no idea what they were in for and had to buy both the bottom and back seat repair kits and the back still hasn't come in), the headlights were foggy and they couldn't buff out the scars on the driver side so they are replacing the headlamp assembly, a little bit of stiching was coming undone on the driver seat and they fixed that and are fixing a couple of paint scratches. They had already put new tires on and serviced the car so we are good to go whenever we get it back. Will buy an extended warranty since the car has 45,000 miles on it and 4 years ends next month.
Only problem in the week I drove it was that the seat wings cramped my shoulder blades. I have pretty wide shoulders. I ordered a Sacro Ease seat rest with back support (had one in another car - they are great) and that should bring me out of the cavern created by the wings. It also will give needed lumbar support.
I read and read about these cars and can only say the professional reviewers are nuts about the steering and pickup. What a nice change to have smooth steering! The Miata (and Mini Cooper before that) was like driving a roller skate. It's fun for a while, but the constant fidgeting with the steering can get old. This car will throw my head against the headrest as it is. Who needs more power than that? And there is not a better looking car on the road! It's seldom I see this car, even in a city the size of Dallas. That's a treat.
This site is great and I look forward to reading more about these great cars. Between this and the plethora of BMW forums and trumpet forums (I am a 50 yar old serious amateur player), I am having a hard time getting any work done.

Welcome here and the fun has just begun. The Crossfire is a awesome car and it is hard to park once you are driving of course the best thing about parking and getting out is the time then spent just looking at it's style and cool design. Enjoy !! Gary
