Operating/Usage Questions-
Hey guys, I have now owned my Xfire for 2600 miles and had it for about 2 months. My car now has 11,600 miles and has 18 months and 24,400 miles left on the warranty. My car is a limited coupe. Automatic tranny.
I have observed a few things that I have questions about. If others have the same experiences or if you think I have some problems that need to be looked at please let me know. Thanks for your help. Here is the list:
I have to leave my car outside as I don't have a garage to park it in.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have observed a few things that I have questions about. If others have the same experiences or if you think I have some problems that need to be looked at please let me know. Thanks for your help. Here is the list:
- When it is cold- When I put the car in reverse I hear a metallic sound just a quick metallic sound- no noises while moving. Also when cold my first shift to 1st gear another metallic sound. Possible universal joints I hear?
- When cold in the morning- I occasionally smell a faint scent of antifreeze when I first start it up, I think the scent comes thru the vents.
- Do you hear the gasoline in the tank when coming to a stop- I can hear it sloshing in my tank.
- A few times the wing deployed below 62 MPH the wing light flashes can't move it down it beeps when I try- but on restart it stays down until 62 MPH and works fine.
- My fan comes on occasionally, it only runs for a short period of time and turns off. My thermostat stays at the halfway mark or a little less all of the time after warm up.
I have to leave my car outside as I don't have a garage to park it in.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was waiting to address this problem after I resolved my oil leak from the valve covers. That work has now been successfully completed...so I am now ready to attack the antifreeze smell. I sure hope it's something simple like a hose...but I see no leaks. Dealer said that if I had a heater core leak...my windows would be fogging up inside the car...and they are not...I have no moisture inside the car.
To our Forum experts...Any comments on this problem and what could be causing it would be appreciated by Donschorr and myself.

I would be interested if anyone else has this problem.

As for the wing, sound likes a malfunction, and as for the older models, I'm not sure at what speed the wing deploys at, but for my car, an '07, it deploys at 62.
2005 Roadster - wing up at 62 mph, wing down just below 40 mph. No antifreeze odor at all. First one or two shifts of the 6-speed on cold mornings is stiff. Then the tranny shifts fine. Nothing else to report at 6700 miles.

Wing issue is not normal. It's going into safety mode since it doesn't care what speed you are traveling, and there is a problem, likely a sensor. Default malfunction mode is in the deployed position so you don't fly off the road doing 100mph.

Antifreeze smell is abnormal and the spoiler freezing is abnormal.
In case there are not anymore posts to my question(s) I wanted to thank everyone who has responded.
I am currently compiling a list for my first service visit (warranty) on my first oil change in about 2500 miles.
Thanks again.

I have an appointment tomorrow with Lake Norman Chrylser for my items I asked about, it is a warranty visit and my first visit to their dealership.
Thanks
Thanks
I would raise a brow or two if I were you. I have never smelled anti-freeze, nor hear any swashing from my gasoline, nor any issue when it's cold and it does get cold in Dallas on certain occasions. Do you think they need to reset his computer? Something isn't right especially if the wing is going bonkers. I haven't had any of the above issues nor heard of them and I work for Chrysler.
I just picked my Xfire up from Lake Norman Chrysler- professionally run operation. I will determine from multiple visits as to their expertise in Xfire repairs, but so far happy with my experience.
For those who have an interest here is the response/action from the dealer to my concerns. Response/action in RED

- When it is cold- When I put the car in reverse I hear a metallic sound just a quick metallic sound- no noises while moving. Also when cold my first shift to 1st gear another metallic sound. Possible universal joints I hear? They discovered both of my rear axle nuts were loose, they tightened the nuts and state that the noise is gone.
- When cold in the morning- I occasionally smell a faint scent of antifreeze when I first start it up, I think the scent comes thru the vents. They could not find any leaks and the coolant level is where it is supposed to be. I will keep a look out for this still.
- Do you hear the gasoline in the tank when coming to a stop- I can hear it sloshing in my tank. They stated that the tank is behind the seats and I will hear some sloshing of the fuel.
- A few times the wing deployed below 62 MPH the wing light flashes can't move it down it beeps when I try- but on restart it stays down until 62 MPH and works fine. They discovered a fault code in the BCM for a low voltage battery, they checked the battery which is fine. They reset the BCM and it is working as designed. I will keep a look out for this still, they told me if it trips again since they have now cleared the code, it will be easy to identify a problem if there is one.
- My fan comes on occasionally, it only runs for a short period of time and turns off. My thermostat stays at the halfway mark or a little less all of the time after warm up. They stated the fan is operating as it should be.
- They looked at the transmission issue (TSB) and no leaks were found.
- I also had complained about my headlights being out of adjustment- They adjusted the front right no problem. After trying to adjust the left front- they have deemed the part not working for an adjustment. They have ordered a replacement left headlight assembly.

I have had:
- The left side head light assembly replaced, as the lights could not be aimed. The old assembly was defective.
- My alarm was not operating properly, the siren was replaced.
- The problem with my wing deploying- after the codes were cleared out it deployed again on its own. They have ordered a new ABS controller to hopefully take care of the problem.
Thanks
