Based on current market value, I don't think thats a bad price for a buyout, you maybe able to get a couple hundred more if you're trade-in on something else,

From what I've seen around here, take the money and run. Thats a good price. I havent had one offer in over 5 months of trying to sell. I dont understand it, but you would think that ONE person would be interested in my car for 15K. It's a very hard market to sell in these times.

That's not a bad offer. But why would you sell? These cars are one of the best bang for the $ on the market.

Enjoy the ride.

$14,500 isn't bad considering Carmax is purchasing your car from you at a wholesale price. Wholesale is even less than trade-in and closer to an auction price. They'll probably turn around and sell it for $18,500.

Actually, I'm surprised they offered to buy it for that much. Must be the low mileage.

You could get more by selling it yourself, but the market seems to be really tough right now.

Who'd buy it @ 18,500.? Not saying the car is bad @ all, just saying the prices are so low.....

Don't know who'd buy it, but Carmax has a 2005 Limited with 40k miles listed for $17,600. My speculation of a Carmax selling price of $18,500 wasn't that far off after all. I'm sure a 17k mile one would be listed at a higher price than $17,600.

i agree... for anyone who does their research on cars before they buy (as you should) they won't spend the money on a used xfire. i originally wanted a used xfire, but thanks to me doing some number crunching, research and a smakc in the face from wcalvert i bought a new one instead. it just doesnt make sense to go out and spend 18k on a used car and then have to pay at least $1000 for an extended warranty (that doesn't include a lifetime powertrain like the new xfires have offered) and therefore after TTL and all that good stuff, be only 300-500 more. A new one is a much better way to go.... screw carmax.

I also think that it truly is the best bang for your buck. Unless its a financial issue for you I would suggest keeping it... But do what you gotta do, 14.5k isn't half bad, but you could get more on a trade.

The big negative with a trade in is the draler will negotiate better without a trade. This is a buyers market. If you trade a vehicle in they may give you 500.00 more for it but they will get you for 1000.00 more on the deal. The only way a trade in makes sense is if the trade in needs work or you owe on it and can't take the time to sell. Just my 2 cents.

I got my 05 limited coupe with 21K from Carmax for around $16.7 Car is in perfect shape--seems like $14.5 is reasonable. My carmax is in Virginia prices might be different in other places
