I quickly photoshoped some images and just wanted peoples opinions on them. on set is with the hood streaks removed, and the other is of a black out, use your imagination and picture gloss black on the black out. the originals of the images are included as well.

 

If you're asking for an opinion ? I think you'll look a base model with black wheels ! I personally like a polished lip with black center the best.

 

Sorry, but neither works for me. I know Chrysler cheapen the streaks by using them on the Sebring and minivan, but it all started with the xfire. Without them just makes the hood look too long and average. IMHO

The black wheels just makes them look like they are extremely dirty.

You need to black out the side marker...

 

The blacked out version needs some gloss, and I'd switch from the amber to the clear side markers.

I did a similar photoshop for someone before on a picture of my SRT6 at the track... one with and one without the strakes.

OK Guys, here's the real deal. I have 2006 Crossfire brochure that say's, and I quote " See a hood influenced by the sleek designs of America's early 20th. century locomotives." (click below to see)

Thats why I really bought the car. I wanted to believe that I was driving a locomotive. Wouldn't it be cool if the whole rest of the car looked like a locomotive? I'm sure you would be the envy of all of your friends and relatives.

Just think of the amazed owners of other cars when a locomotive blows their doors off.

All kidding aside, I agree with Mike, I like the strakes. I think the only problem most have with the strakes, including me, is that they used them on other Chrysler cars and didn't keep them exclusively on the Crossfire. The strakes are part of the "Deco Design" influence that I love. If you know anything about sheet metal work, the strakes also add rigidity and structural integrity.

 

I like the dark wheels cause it hides the brake dust No really I just ordered the rotex pads this morning due to the fact it's my wife's daily driver and I couldn't keep up with the dust.

 

I wasn't going to comment on this thread, but I've heard from a number of people who have told me they would have liked my custom hood much more if I would have retained the Crossfires "Signature" hood strakes. Some people have even gone so far as to accuse me of being a "Strake Bigot".
I liked the hood strakes on the Crossfire the first time I saw it. They kind of reminded me of the chrome accent moldings that were on the trunk of the Desoto Adventurer built in the 50's (even though I think they were suppose to give the Desoto a "luggage rack" effect.) anyway, that's what came to mind. http://www.conceptcarz.com/view/phot...rer_Photo.aspx
As soon as I purchased my Crossfire over 3 years ago, I immediately started planning on installing the hood scoop because that was the "look" I really wanted for my car. Even if there had been some way to use the scoop that I wanted, and to retain the strakes, I probably wouldn't have because the two different designs would have "clashed". So I had to make a decission, and for me, the scoop was the way to go.
The first time I saw a white Sebring sedan coming at me in a stores parking lot, looking for all the world like a "fleet" car, I knew I wasn't going to miss the hood strakes, and I haven't. But I still appreciate them on everybody elses XF even though Chrysler chose to water down the design by using them on the Sebring, Pacifica, and an SUV.
I also don't think the photo shopped version of the Crossfire hood (without the strakes) looks bad either. But if I couldn't have my scooped hood, I'd go back to the strakes for sure.

I think the strakes are part of the Crossfire make-up and personality. I wouldn't remove them either, unless I was going for the AMX look.

I don't think the personality of the car would be the same without the strakes in place.

I mainly added the photoshopped images for others. To each their own... right?
