Default Contoured mesh bumper plate.

For as long as i've had my SRT, the mesh bumper plate (for lack of a better word) has been convex. I am speaking of the two grey plastic inserts in the lower front bumper. Anyways, the one on the left side just pops out. It is excessively curved, unlike the other one. Is this something that would be covered by Chrysler's original bumper to bumper warranty?

Thanks.

Yes. How many more months do you have on the warranty? How many more months till you can legally drive?

There is a little more than a year left on the warranty. Can legally drive by myself at the end of July.

When the time comes....please show some restraint with the SRT6.....stay alive & don't kill anyone else either.

Since there hasn't been any reponses to this thread, I thought that I would post some pictures to provide more insight about what's going on. Would warranty take care of this? The one on the passenger side is curved more than the other one and pops right out.

As Post #2 said, I would think your 36k warranty would cover it. If not, I believe the lower grill section costs about $38.00 a piece.

As far as the little clips that hold the mats down, one has always been missing. Is it likely they'll cover it as well?

Smokey, when it comes to what your dealer will and will not cover, usually depends upon the "mood" they're in that day. As for the clips, if they don't "give" you one, they really shouldn't be that expensive. As for the grill itself, if it's warped and doesn't fit properly, they should replace it under warranty. If not, You should simply buy another one yourself, because if it doesn't fit the way it should, it will continue to pop out.
It doesn't take much to knock em loose.
Good Luck

Hi Smokey, I have enjoyed this thread and the other about the service display. Mostly I grinned at the gentle pokes at you about your age. At 16, I too, had a car I did not "deserve" (to my credit I did perform manual labor to pay for about 1/2 0f it). The car was the grear-great-grandmother of your Crossfire. Attached is a 42 year old faded picture of that sweet beauty. The point is I kinda turned out alright. But for that to be true, I had to stay alive. Chris L has given you the best advice you will get on this or any other forum.

Oh, and read the user's manual! Your car has features not extant in any other vehicle on the High School parking lot!

Best, Sloreflex

Yeah Maxcichon; that photo definitely has that vintage look! Time has not been very kind to it. Memory is a funny thing. I can vividly remember my friend taking that picture with his parents Polaroid. He was excited to show off the "instant" picture. Such a trivial event, but the memory is like yesterday. GENTLE pokes? You should look at my previous posts (especially "Test Drove Today"). lol. Like you, I also paid for half my SRT-6 from saving up over the years. Sounds crazy, but it's true!

Yeah they're made to just pop out when you pull on them, but sometimes they pop right out when ever small furry creatures come in contact with em, or road debris. I lost mine when my neighbors cat ran out in front of me when I was coming home one night. I drove right over it....the grill, not the cat, he just bounced off and kept right on running. The grill was a little scuffed up, but went right back in. Then the next year a brick came out of nowhere while I was on the Interstate and took it out again, so I had to replace it.
I've thought about putting a very fine "safety wire" on both grills just to keep them attached to the bumper just in case.

According to the owner's manual, it appears that you should have to use some type of tool to remove them...

Anyways, I took it to the local dealership yesterday morning. Yes, I took it to a dealership. While they are checking out the service message, I am just having them go ahead and fix the grille, fix the hatch rattle, and passenger side wind noise. Also, if they will, I mentioned the floor mat clip. I printed them out a very detailed sheet (including the TSBs) specifying what exacty I expected to be done when I picked it up. They ended up having to keep it overnight cause the "Crossfire guy" didn't get there until later. And what do ya know, the biggest thunder storm middle TN has seen in the past 4 years came through last night. I can only hope they realized what a gorgeous car it is and let it stay inside. I should have a verdict at the end of the day.

I've removed mine-just to see and use the tool. If you don't have to struggle with them, there's a problem.Mine are a cast iron bit%% to get out, even with the tool.

P.S. the dealership probably left your baby outside. Just for spite!

P.P.S. And they'll charge you extra for a "Detail"!

Mine are snug, but I can pop them right out without the tool. the only time I had any trouble at all ws when I played chicken with a racoon. I must admit he didn't back down, but he did get the short end of the stick, let's just say we both lost
mine popped out then but after I went back and helped him off the road and retrieved it, popped it in and haven't had a problem since.
