Default Turning ESP off while in motion

This is kind of a newb question I'm sure, but is there any harm in turning ESP off while the car is in motion? Also, doesn't turning ESP off improve your mileage?

No and No.

Stability program, traction control, ABS, etc. are electronic programs that use the car's brakes to correct body angle, stop wheel spin, and maintain control under hard braking.

If you're not doing any of the things mentioned above, the program is completely idle and has no effect on the brakes.
