Yay, its been years since i have been home, but i am finally making the drive July 1st. I see a lot of you on here are from Michigan. Any ideas on things to check out? I will be heading all the way up to Macinac island.

 

When you coming through and from where?

 

Take the drive from Traverse City to Charlivoix, Petosky, Harbor Springs, Tunnel of Trees route to Cross Village and eat at the Leggs Inn and on to Mackinac.

Also if you haven't seen Sleeping Bear Dunes it's worth a look.

Frankenmuth is always a nice place to visit. Make sure you stop at Zehnders for a chicken dinner.

 

ha ha ha i worked at the bavarian inn as a young chap, frankenmuth is awesome. We were from the flint area. (Otter Lake) near otisville, davison, ETC. I will be coming up from nashville, stopping for the night in Detroit.

 

There are three fine casinos in Motown and if you win enough singles, you can always go across the river to the Windsor ballet. Check out if the Tigers are in town - they suck but Comerica is a beautiful ballpark.

 

Tigers dont suck anymore!!

Also, make sure you bring a winter jacket and summer shorts..

Are you driving the XF? If so check google there's a site that has road trips in Michigan, RPM may know the address. Sleeping Bear sand dunes, Travers City, Crystal Lake, Light houses (snoozers if you ask me) What crops will be in? Blue berries around end of July/Aug, cherries sometime too. West coast has some great drives and small towns, the musical fountains are over there.
