Whether you get around to burning copies or nor, please bring them with you to Bedford meet. We will know immediately, if they work in my navigation system. Everybody else, patience is a virtue, only 10 days or so away.
P.S. I'm anxious, too! Counting the days.

Bumping back to the top.
To All,
If you have been holding your breathe waiting to see if the new upgraded navigation cd's work, the news isn't good.
Today I went out and met with the DFWXFires gang in Bedford. As promised, Ferris (sowardcustoms) brought the 3 upgraded cd's with him. After having a bite to eat and some great conversation with all, we went outside and tried these CD's in my navigation system. We put in Disc 1 in and the first thing displayed was "Navigation system is being accessed". Next it said, "Update in progress". Next it said, "Updating radio, 0 %". After 3 or 4 minutes and never changing from 0%, it displayed, "CANCEL: Wrong CD". We took the CD out and when we re-inserted it, it displayed, "Disc Read Error". We tried all 3 discs and had the same results. Afterwards, if we put any of the CDs in, they all display, "Disc Read Error".
When I put my original navigation CD back in, it started out the same as the other discs, the first thing displayed was "Navigation system is being accessed". Next it said, "Update in progress". Next it said, "Updating radio, 0 %". After 3 or 4 minutes it just started the program and it worked fine.
I went back to the updated CDs and instead of giving me the "Disc read error", it started from square one with the first thing being displayed "Navigation system is being accessed". Next it said, "Update in progress". Next it said, "Updating radio, 0 %". After 3 or 4 minutes,........you can figure it out, same loop as before.
So, sad to say, although the program is close enough to be read by the Crossfire navigation system; it isn't compatible enough to work. Sorry!
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to try them.
Thanks, Ferris, we gave it a try!

Thanks for trying and the update, that is a bummer. I wonder what this guy claims he has in this Ebay Crossfire navigation radio auction. He claims he has updated internal cd's and so forth. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrys...Z1218573128467

To All,
Thanks for the info from ebay. I e-mailed the gentleman selling a navigation system with the upgraded software and asked him if he could please pass any information he had to me for installing this upgraded software. Hopefully, he will be willing to help us out. I'll keep you posted on anything I hear. Keep your fingers crossed.

Let's not lose hope on this. If we can get images (exact duplicate) of the discs online, then we will have a much better chance at identifying whether or not this is possible. It sounds like the disc is trying some type of firmware upgrade on the system, and failing at some point.
I have seen similar devices fail firmware upgrades due to compatability requirements (a fixed list of compatible devices contained may be on the CD) which may or may not be the issue. We won't know until we can get the files from the discs online. Once I can get the files (or discs if anyone is willing) then I and any other programmers can dig into it.

If you talk to the guy from the eBay sale, find out which company he worked for, NavTech or Chrysler. Being an insider, he might have the keys that unlocks these new disks.

The Butcher (NavTech) the Baker (DB Chrysler) and now the Candelstick maker (Becker NA).

Maybe we should call them, unless that was already done. The Butcher and Baker were a waste of time.

I have brought this issue up to the Doug Betts quality group. They are fixing problems with issues just like this. Doug Betts is the cheif quality engineer at Chrysler. Hopefully he'll work on this issue. I'll let you know what he says.
wow this would be wonderful.
But what you guys are saying makes great sense that they would not release new cars with old data.
Perhaps if someone with an 08 or 09 could upload their NAV CDs in ISO. format, we would compare the two and see if there is in fact an update.
Maybe?

adding to my comment: thank you guys for working so hard on this, we all greatly appreciate it!!
