Well, I finally took in the '05 to the dealer to try (key word being try) to have the pitted and delaminating headlamp assemblies replaced under warranty. My drivers side is not great but my passenger side is terrible. The top half of the lens is completely pitted and clouded. So much so, that the nighttime light output on that side is compromised a bit. Right off the bat on the phone, the service manager is hemming and hawing about how they may not be covered and it may be regular wear and tear, asks do I drive in sandy areas, (yeah, I take it on the beach and off-road in the outer banks) and alot of other BS. It is such a widespread and well documented problem that I dont understand how they could possibly make it seem like it was normal. Most of the past posts relating to this issue seem like the dealer made no big deal out of it. I have a feeling I wont be so lucky. I'll see what happens!

So if the dealer decides to snake out on ya, there's a couple of threads on the site dealing with the DIY cleaning and polishing of the headlight lens. I cleaned and polished mine with a product I found at my local Wally World for 20 bucks. (See my photo gallery for before and after pics ) A couple hours worth of time and my headlight lenses look almost brand new !

Just my Dos Centavos !
