Default Wrecked Crossfire, Progress Pics :)

Hey all, so i purchased a wrecked crossfire a lil over a month ago. finally got all parts togather, here's the progress, paint and body will be complete in another 2-3 days.

and the day i bought it

I purchased a SRT bumper, all dealer parts. right side, the frame rail was bend so it was pulled and is pretty straight. line up of body panels came out really good.

just wanted to share.

car was driveable wrecked so i drove it to the body shop.

will post pics in a few days of when it comes out of the body shop

Not sure what state you live in, but any state that allows a car to be driven with a hood like that is somewhere I want to avoid!

On another note....looks like it's coming along pretty well, keep up the good work and you'll have a beautiful car when you're done!

haha i had replaced the bent hood before i drove it and was locked securely. i was gonna tow it but 5 miles didnt seem worth 100 bucks.

but as structure goes, you can see how good mercedes engineering and quality sheet metal went into engineering these cars.

looks like nice progress...

at first, I thought you were in MI, there's a wrecked one very similar to that in a local lot near me.

yea right at 5k, then ti's cost me around 4k or so to fix. parts have been torture.

it's a '04 with 37k, auto.

d*** Abags are $1,500 used. last car i rebuilt last year was a '06 gto and those bags were $500.

this crossfire has been the most expensive car i've rebuilt (as parts goes).

but it pays for school... and i enjoy rebuilding them, then driving them for a while.

The bodyshop couldn't figure out how to take the door handles and mirrors off the car before paint?

oh dont ask what i had to go thru to just get them to remove that fender side wind thing.

most body shops just tape up things, never remove. usually before i send a car for bodywork, i take off trim, lights, etc as much as i can. now i just don't have the time. so this is the result. but it will be ok, this guy does good paint work.

wouldn't have painted the door or left quarter, but someone keyed it!!!

My headliner looks just like that, and mines an 04' in the same color. I should have figured it was another common problem with the car, just like the headlights. I'm just going to do it in suede to make the trouble worth while. Good luck with the rebuild, it's coming along great.

I dunno if it's just being up this late at night, but the engine cover looks tweaked to the driver's side just a little bit and looking at the horn assy in front of the radiator, was it hit in the front??

If you are still looking for airbags, try this link on Ebay. I'm not sure if it fit, but at least you can check it out.

I might have a center wheel for you to buy if I can talk my daughter into putting on the cedar red airbag and cover. The dealer is ordering a new one for her SRT. They cost $1000 if you buy one from the dealer.
