A nice big hammer should do the trick. 
But if that doesn't suit your fancy then you can just loosen the little allen or torx bolt that's on the back side of the mirror and remove the assembly.

haha nice,
it already broke off from the bracket that sticks on the windshield from a wreck (or i'm assuming, bought it like that). lol so trying to take it all apart to see if there's any hope.
