Default Gps Cd Update

Mr. Brenan,

An update is in process and should be available within the next few weeks through NavTeq or MOPAR.

I am not familar with NAV radios in the Crossfire since mine is an 04. But do you have to look down at the radio to see your map? How big can the screen be? Curious. James

While the information given may be true, don't always believe what companies tell you. Though mostly unrelated, it does have similar information. Back in 2000, I bought a digital camera. In 2001 XP was released and my camera was not XP compatible and the drivers did not work with XP. I contacted the camera company asking about drivers and they told me that they were being worked on and would be released soon. A few months later, I called again since they weren't released, this time I was told they were delayed and would be released in the next couple of months. Well I eventually bought a new camera, but kept the old one still. I called one more time after remembering all that I had gone through and they again told me that they would be released soon. So over the course of a little over a year, I was told 3 times that they would be released soon and they never were.

So my comment is this, until the updated disc is actually received by someone, don't necessarily believe what they told you.

Completely unrelated: This is why I prefer standalone GPS units. I can take it with me in any car I drive and if they ever stop supporting it, I can replace it with a newer one and not have to worry about if it fits in my car.

^ Way to rain on our parade...

This is good news, however, I wonder how much the discs will cost. Personally, the update will probably cost more than I am willing to pay.

I would figure the updates are going to cost more than a stand alone unit. And I've only used my nav once so far in the 10 months I've owned the car. As long as I drive on roads built before 2004 there's no problem so I suspect that as long as I stay out of any new housing developments I should be able to get where I'm going.

Sweet! Maybe enough of us pestered them about it that they decided to be nice and actually update the CD's. That, or perhaps Chrysler realized how completely asinine it would be to sell a relatively expensive car with a NAV option, then offer no update support for said NAV.

I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised with how well the Nav works. I've used it in PA, NJ, and DE, and even though the discs are somewhat outdated, I only had one problem out of the 20+ times I've used it. I do keep a TomTom GO 910 in the glove box, just in case (a leftover from the Trans Am). Ironically, the one mess up that the built-in Nav experienced was also a problem on the TomTom. Google Maps Mobile ended up bailing me out.

Stupid Delaware

No maps on the display. There is just a lady with a very sexy english accent that tells me where to go..... there is also a small graphic on the right side that will show which way to turn and how far away the turn is. You can also press the volume button and it will tell you how far away the destination is and your estimated time of arrival.

I first thought that I would be at a loss without the map showing, but it is not bad and if you stray off course, it automatically recalculates the route without telling you that you screwed up. I have found it to be very accurate, but I do still miss the map.....

I also like the fact that it can be programmed while on the move, unlike our Town & Country LTD.

Just bought a '07 Limited with the NAV Radio, but no CD. Always have avoided cars with built-in GPS as I prefer the portable ones especially since they now come with lifetime updates(just updated my Garmin today), but would like the ability to see how the Crossfire one works. Anybody have a CD they can copy if I pay the cost?

From the Crossfire Documentation thread.
Instructions.
CD for the East.
CD for the West.

These are essentially useless. I don't know anyone who actually uses it. Just get an inexpensive Garmin, it'll save some headaches.
