New Owner/Picking Up Today
Hey everyone,
I've never perchased a car before today, and I'm going to go pick up an '04 coupe with the 6-speed and 30k miles on it. The dealer was at $14,000 but i talked them down to $11,500. Everything on the car is perfect except for the wheels. The previous owners apparently weren't very good at keeping their distance from curbs. Needless to say they are a bit scratched up on the outer lips. My question is, has enyone ever tried to repair these scratches? If so, how did you go about it?
Thanks for the help. Any other info for a new owner would be apprieciated (quirks to look out for and whatnot).

I'm impressed! Never purchased a car before yet you talked them down several thousands of dollars? Who helped you get that deal?
I'm not even that good! On a side note, since there is a lot of curb rash, be sure to have someone inspect the car underneath to be sure nothing was damaged. My son purchased an SRT-4 from a Chrysler dealership last month and later on found out that the radiator support and other underneath parts were damaged pretty bad after trying to get his car wheel alignment done. So he needs some parts to get it fixed. Who knows what the heck the previous owner hit and left it that way. Bad quality on the dealerships part not to see that! Anyway, congrats on a job well done and looking forward to your posts on this fantastic forum!
Enjoy your new ride!

Wow! Congrats and welcome!
As far as "quirks to look out for and whatnot" just start reading through the forum. I'm new but feel I already know the car pretty well thanks to the wealth of information and knowledge available on this site.
So when yer not sitting in your new ride, sit down and start reading here!
Enjoy!

I think scuffing the alloys is a rite of passage. The ones on mine are a bit scuffed, and I added to it when I took my mum out for a ride in it. I made rude words in my head.
There are kits out there to help repair them. In the UK, £30 will get you a kit from Halfords: Clicky
There should be such kits available where you are. Would be much cheaper than paying $500 a wheel.
Anyway, apart from the scuffed wheel, I hope the rest of your car is shiny and gleamy and turns heads. Enjoy it - they are good fun to own and drive.
