I think I can legitimately claim a hat trick for all three forums: own one car for each. We added a Limited Coupe to the stable this weekend -- will pick it up next Saturday. I've been watching the ads and looked at a dozen coupes over the past two months, but my wife found this one on the internet in a Chicago suburb, about 150 miles away. So my son and I drove out yesterday, looked it over, test drove it, negotiated, and deposited. Other than some curb rash which I will ask them to repair (they mentioned they could get it done for $140), it is close to immaculate. We knocked the price down from $18k to $16.7 for a vehicle with 12,485 miles and two years of warranty remaining.

Yes, it's for my son, and he better take real good care of it because 1) it's a gorgeous autocar, and 2) it has to last him for another 5 years minimum.

I take it that dad has the SRT, mom the roadster and of course we know your son gets the coupe. How old is he? My daughter was 16 1/2 when she got hers. I guess you are like graphite XF's.

Don't you wish you got the gas mpg they get? You sould get some additional cleaning of your wheels now. Blackmail and threats help.

Now you just have to add in the SRT6 Roadster

No base...I'm not that into a full set. But an SRT6 vert sounds interesting. The wife has pointed out a few but I'm sure she's just testing me.

I drive both graphites most of the time. She will take either one when my son had her car, and I think she prefers the SRT6 because it is an automatic and she doesn't have to mess with a convertible top which I always leave down. She can drive the mixer, but has a bad knee and prefers not to.

Son turned 18 in May. He was planning on using his summer earnings for a motorcycle but I got him to pony up 26% of the car price instead. It's "far cooler" than a bike according to him....I would hope so. The daughter (16 3/4) just got a 2003 A4 3.0 MT6 as a reward for straight As the last 2 years. That's it though - the wad is shot and they have to keep these running and clean for 5-6 years. Or get their own jobs and pay for replacements.

While a 3 stall garage helps, I will have to look for local storage for the two graphites this winter. That still leaves 4 cars to share 3 bays and my wife and I already claimed two permanently. I told the teens to figure out a sharing arrangement else they can both park outside and I'll bring the roadster home for the winter!

Hmmm. Maybe I'll come across a graphite SRT6 vert with low miles...???

 

I am sure the daughter would really really like you to get the graphite roadster! Trust me. Here is a qoute for you that I heard a few times when my daughter drove my SRT Roadster. "Dad, I really look good in this car".

 

It's official. The 2007 Machine Gray coupe is ours. My son received his first lesson in car detailing today and did better than expected. Light compounding, two waxes, and even pulled all the tires and washed/waxed them as well. Took him 4.5 hours of which 3 hours was him actually working - the rest of it was dashing into the house to catch football scores. Car looks sweet. I like this dark gray as much as the graphites. PS - We clocked 28.8 mpg on the 144 mile return from Chicago at 72-75 mph.

 

The machine gray is beautiful, only seen one other around here. Our graphite has a lot of green flake in it and in the right light it looks nice, the machine gray really makes that green flake "pop". Great color.
I wanted a bike too and my wife said no bike ok for the Crossfire, I guess its a lot safer. Congrats to your son, wise choice.
