Did I get a good Deal?
Hello All, I am new to this forum and have been reading a lot. It seems that everyone has overall enjoyed their crossfire's and I have just purchased mine. When I was at the dealer I heard a few things about it that were not so great but still bought it anyway. 1 was that Chrysler will stop or stopped making these in 2008, the navigation has not been updated since 2004, and that it really doesn’t get the greatest gas mileage. Again these are things that the sales guy was telling me as we were test driving. In the end I bought the car and find myself finding excuses to drive it. I feel bad because I have been neglecting my sportster for about 2 weeks now because of this bad boy.
The sale went fairly smoothly. I figured out what I wanted to pay for a car. Searched around, and found this 05 limited crossfire for 13,999. The car was listed to have 47,000 miles on it. After I negotiated the deal and brought the price down to 13,000 with 5 year, 75000 mile warranty. We discovered a mistake that was made by the dealer. Instead of the car having 47,000 miles on it, the odometer was only reading 4,700! It was too late for the dealer to go back on his word so he had to sell me the car at the agreed price.

Do you guys think that I got a good deal? Or did I actually pay the average going price and just think I got away with murder?

Sounds like a great deal to me! I don't understand the salesman telling you negative lies about it. Yes they stopped making them. But the gas milage is not all that bad. I can't speak for the nav because I don''t have or want one. Congrats and welcome to the forum!
The sales guy was probably only going to make the minumum on the sell, like $50 and wanted you to buy something else. Great car. You did good.
I would have to say that you got a very good deal. Your gas mileage should be somewhere in the mid to high 20's as has been reported here by folks with the N/A engine. That doesn't seem that bad to me. The nav discs are from 2004. I have used the nav system a lot and find it to be suprisingly good. I only ran into one situation where the map data was nonexistant, but that area also tripped up a TomTom Go 910 with a year-old map, so it's all relative.
There are certainly little "gotchas" to be found with any car, regardless of price. The most important thing is that YOU enjoy it. An enjoy it you shall! Congrats on the new ride, especially given the great deal you worked.

Oops Never Mind, What a Kidder. I tell everyone I am loving the car, but when my friend is around who loves for me to take her for a ride, I kid with everyone that the only thing that I dont like is that my "Magnet" is not working... it keeps attracting the same girl ever time.

Yeah she is a good one, I kid just to make her think I’m not interested lol. I still haven’t tried to figure out the mpg just yet, I have tried just measuring the number of marks I use on my gas gauge along with the trip odometer, so far I it looks like I can go about 50 miles on a quarter of a tank. I’m hoping that this is not accurate or maybe its just In my head. The last time I put gas I wrote down the mileage and filled up the tank. I’m waiting till my next fill up to figure out the difference.
You'll see that you will get better than 50 miles per 1/4 tank once you check things after fill up.
I get around 17mpg (290 miles) per tank in an SRT.
Your NA will do better.

As you get used to the car, your mileage will improve. I was getting what I thought was pretty poor mileage the first few weeks as my driving fitted to the car. I’m pretty happy with the range I can get with it now.
The gas gauge is in 1/6s, not quarters. So you're running about 300 miles/tank or 20 mpg. That's probably reasonable for city but expect 25-28 on the highway at reasonable speeds. Even my SRT6 gets 23-24; the roadster 28-29.
You got an excellent deal. I was looking at a local 2005 limited with 8500 miles for $16k asking and ended up buying a 2007 with 12,500 for $16.7k, no warranty.

Thanks All, Looks like the last calc I did was averaging out about 16-17 mpg. I was hoping for more. This is actually my first manual trans vehicle so I think its the learning curve on my part for the mpg im getting. How is that for falling for the car? I saw it, fell in love with it, but couldnt drive it. I figured that if I could ride my sportster then how hard could it be? Im about 1 month into getting use to the crossfire, so hopefully my mpg will improve. Stupid question: I generally wait till I reach 3,000 to 4,000 rpm's before I shift during normal driving, is this to much? I also like the feel of when I gun it and waiting to shift till about 5,000 rpm's only because it seems to have more torque at that rate. am I putting more stress on the transmission than I should be? or should I just watch to make sure I dont redline when I wear my lead foot?
