Default Model year changes?

I'm curious as to whether chrysler has seen fit to update aspects of these cars throughout the years. Does anyone know if, for example, an 04 crossfire is identical to an 08 crossfire? I know other brands do lots of little things to the cars. From my own experience, I know that VW made a number of changes to the corrado throughout its short 4 year lifecycle in the US. New motors, new interiors, and even smaller things such as switching from a distributor-based ignition on the early VR6 cars to a coil pack-based setup in the later versions. Was there anything like this for the crossfire? I'd like to start learning as much as I can about this vehicle, since I own one and it's a neat little car.

And if there is a "stickey" or something similar about this topic, please let me know, I'd love to read the thread.

Nothing major. In '04' there was only one model; the coupe. In "05" they introduced the roadster, the SRT6, and the Base, and the 06, 07 and 08 had only a couple of new colors, and a change to the glove compartment.

Other than changing color availability from year to year, I think the only actual change was something on the passive restraint system in the 07 model year.
Also, I believe there was a difference in the way the 04's and 05's traction control or ESP is wired up. But only the 04's came with an automatic dimming rear view mirror.
The newer cars may come with the better designed "Fog Light" that doesn't lose it's deflector on the bulb, but I'm not sure.
Basically what you bought in 04, is pretty much what is now guaranteed for life in 2008.

Yes, one of the reason I chose the Crossfire over the competitor is due to the lifetime warrenty. However, I brought my car in for warrenty service a few weeks ago for a problem where the engine would "clatter" loudly at around 3K rpm. Was told its normal and just to keep on driving. I asked what if the I keep on driving and the engine blows up form this. They said then just bring it back to have it worked on..

I am planning to take it to another dealer to see if they will work on it. The thought of driving the Crossfire with that sound in the engine just pains me..

We'll see what the new dealer says..

Ok, cool, thanks! I sort of got the impression that things hadn't changed very much with the crossfire, which is a shame. It's a neat car, but some of the details, such as the nav for instance, could have made it more appealing to a broader audience, IMO. It would be great if chrysler released a vehicle to replace the crossfire, but I would worry that the build quality would be complete garbage. Unfortunately, it's all too easy to see that the crossfire really isn't a chrysler product---probably the best automotive result of the now-failed merger between the two companies.

Just out of curiosity, You bought an 08, does yours have remote start?

Also, the lettering on 05's and up CROSSFIRE on the back is a bit higher then the 04's. This is because they had to make room for the SRT-6 emblem.

Not that I'm aware of. Was that a std feature on other crossfires? Though I've also been told by someone I knew at a toyota dealer that having a remote start on a manual trans vehicle is sort of frowned upon. I'm not sure if it would even come std on a 6 speed car. But I would like to know about the remote start, if some cars came with that as std equipment.

I didn't know that about the lettering. That's the kind of neat crossfire-dork information I'm looking for!

yeah there as FP said there are a couple little things i know the main interior ones for instance on the SRT's the Lettering of SRT-6 changed from the box to the slant and the locations of that are on the seats and on the gauge and also on the car. the change was from the 05 to 06. as someone mentioned earlier the 04's came with the Auto dimming rearview mirror and that was the last year of that. and the glove compartment change was a slow hydralic that allowed the glove box to open slowly as opposed to slam down like the 04s did.

I don't think I have a hydraulic glove box on my car. I think it just falls open via gravity.

I have an 07 and I don't have hydraulics on the glove box. It just falls via gravity also...

I think they started to add the knee airbags in the 07 model year, making it 6 airbags total..

The glove box change happened because the 07+ came with knee airbags.

Check out this link - everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask - comparing all features 2004 to 2007. I found this on some other link originally posted by RODMUS

Voyager, I purchased my car brand new, it was built in Jan. 04, and it came with the hydralic glove compartment door, from the factory.
A Chrysler dealer once told me they didn't stock parts for Dodges when I asked them for an oil filter for my Crossfire, and they couldn't find it on their computer. In their defence, it was August of 2005, just as the 06 Crossfires were about to come out, so they were still a little "shy" on Crossfire knowledge. I guess they just needed a little more time to brush up for the quizz.

I had an 05, the glove box was alot bigger than the one on my 07. I was unaware of any changes from 04-05. My 07's glovebox is almost half the size of my 05's.
