Winter Descisions?
Anybody else wondering what to do for the winter? It is starting to get cooler in VA and I'm starting to worry about riding around on the PS2s. I bought my Crossfire early this year and love it to death...I really don't want to start flinging salt all over it for months. At this point I'm looking at new tires all around (just put new PS2s on it a couple months ago) or getting a winter beater. The winters are never really bad here, I think there was maybe 2 days with some snow last year but supposedly this is going to be a "bad one." I used to live in Saskatchewan so bad winter has a complete different meaning to me. New tires would probably do fine but the absolutely ridiculous amount of salt they put down here makes me worry. Getting a beater is all fine and dandy but I am use to leather seats that heat your *** up. What does everyone else do/any suggestions?
I went and picked up a winter beater. It cost $1500 for a 4 door '98 chev blazer 4x4. safty and e-test already done. The deals are out there and they are not too much more then a set of nice new tires. This way there will be no flinging salt all over the crossfire.

Get a beater for winter driving... Bun warmer optional.

Fritzhauf, how can you have a garage and it be that empty? I think thats a violation of some kind. I have a two car garage and 4 vehicles and a machine shop. hmmmmm... some things dont fit. I usually drive the Intrepid most of the time. We get ice more times than snow and they like to put gravel down for traction. YIKES!!!

I had a 2002 GTi as my winter beater. With how cheap these things are going for there days I might just pickup a limited coupe as my winter beater. I would be fun doing doughnuts with 10 inches of snow on the ground in a Crossfire beater.

After reviewing my previous statement I would like strike that from the record and issue a apology. "I'm Sorry"
Some of the prices I have seen lately are pretty ridiculous though. I'm just dreading the day when I come across a ricer Crossfire on the highway. I can definitely see that in the Crossfire's future, unfortunately. I wish I was loaded and could buy every Crossfire available.
What's winter?
Is that the time of year when the girls at the beach wear short-shorts instead of the string?

Damn I miss San Diego!! The last winter I was there I was down in PB and a girl needed a road a few blocks down, but there was no room in my car. She said she would ride on the hood, and I said what will she give me. So she did the ride topless. Quite funny having a topless girl riding around on my hood in the middle of "winter"....
I just picked up 4 new rims and tires for winter. I WILL be driving it around all winter here in Chicago unfortunately. 18's all around with some pirelli winters on the back and goodyear f1 a/s on the front. I was at the delaer yesterday getting my faded qindow trim replaced with a fancy new one and they have a corrosion protection package they offer... Runs like 250 for it or something, didn't listen to the guy all that much. I stopped listening when he started telling me a R/T challenger sould outrun an SRT6. I almost lost it. So I went back down to the service department and sat quietly.
I am planning on getting a routine winter wash. Once a week, udnercarriage and engine bay. Thats the plan right now. We'll see how it changes as teh winter progresses. Luckily I store her inside during the night and only have a 3 mile drive to work. Not too shabby.

Does she have goose bumps? Not in Miami to answer your question.
IMHO, since I bought my roadster and SRT6 for the long term, they are off the road next month. Washed, waxed, and stored under covers.
My son will be driving his this winter, but only when the roads are clear, which isn't too often here in west MI. We don't get as much snow as Stowe VT, but still run about 8-10' a winter. I did price new rims and Blizzaks and for the price I could have bought him a true winter beater. So he'll get to take it on nice days (i.e., no snow or ice on the road) and on the rest of the days ride in his sisters A4 quattro or his mom's Milan FWD. I will be buying him a couple 50 lb bags of sand for the "trunk" just in case the weather surprises him at school.
As I've said before, he is planning on going to college in FL next year so winter driving becomes moot. And he doesn't get the car his freshman year either -- he needs to study and socialize (maybe he can meet the babe in the picture...I'd like that for a daughter-in-law).
