I think it might look better if the black was the same as the car. The black you have looks unfinished to my eye. As James said, it is what you like that matters, it is your car. I like the overall 'dark' look.

haha its completely unfinished. this is the result of a boring afternoon and living to close to lowes. im going to strip the paint off and do it again with expensive paint and a more powerful adhesive then bbq paint . wish me luck.

Good Luck, but for some reason the movie "Men in Black" comes to mind.

All you need is that red light going back & forth
like on Night Rider, KIT
The new car should be a Crossfire not a ford mustang
Nice! You should get them power coated, it will last longer.

Stock brake pads and not washing your rims for a year will provide you the same look.

I've actually seen it around town...

haha thats should be my license plate, Nightrider, if only it would fit. I know i Should powder coat it. But Powder coating is just as expensive as buying a whole new set of rims .

oh my.

I LOVE the REST of the car, but somehow, Lowe's paint job or not - the grey-black rims don't really make it...and, yeah, powder-coating IS expensive...but...hmmm...

What you REALLY need to do - having spent all that money making your X-Fire into a 'NightRider' special...(and it DOES look good with that all-black look)...is GET DECENT LICENCE PLATE COVERS!!

If you got body-colour (hey, I'm from Canada...that's the way we spell it, eh?)...licence plate surrounds with slightly 'smoked' plexiglass inserts...WOW...that would make it...

I have chrome licence plate surrounds on my silver X-fire...with the smoked plastic inserts...and, I'm going to paint them body colour...

Beautiful car, you have, though...

Hi All

No i'm sorry but they just do not look the part , Have a look at the different types of chrome , I think you can get a type of black chrome , It not black but has a black huw to it , if not go the power coating route , Had my rim all just done back to the silver power coating & cost about £70.00 per rim & that was striped right back to bare alloy ,

The rest of your Xfire is out standing best i've seen (back number could do with leveling off a little --- it could just be the angle of the picture) I just wish the sun would come out over here to show our Xfire off abit more

All i can tell you is at about 60 miles an hour the rain starts to go up the front screen

Cheers

Andy

bahahahah robocop :P

let me try this again a different paint . and i dont know if its the camera but the rims are really alot shinier and more or less the same contrast as the car . the only reason im repainting is because it was falling off by the touch of my nails. but if it doesnt stay on with this next attempt i think ill strip em n sell em maybe buy a new set of rims. my birfday is on the 25th if anyone wants to send me some fuel injectors or something :]

Good idea, bad execution. Powder coating might have looked better. You lost the sharpness on the middle insert. But if you like it, kudos! Do the calipers black too at this point I think.

I looked at a used coupe in Grand Rapids MI -- the previous owner had done a similar rattle can spray job to the wheels. It really looked tacky. If you don't do it right, you just cheapen the looks of the car.

Pop for chrome plating -- chrome on black looks fantastic!
