Default Create a Manufacturer Recall

It's time to create a Mfg recall list to present to Chrysler. I have 2 major issues with my used Crossfire that seems to be an issue for a great many on this site.
The first being the rear hatch locking mechanism. It is of poor design and cost a serious amount of money especially if you don't have a warranty or it has expired.
The second being the heated seats. There are two issues, either the element or control box. This too caused great concern and I have fixed them 2 times.
We need to join together in this. With wll less than 100k sold it should not be an issue.
I spoke with a rep from MotorTrend magazine. Best thing to do is document those that have had work done or need work done and present it to Chrysler. All that is needed is a name and serial number.
I cannot afford to keep fixing things over and over that should not be needed in the first place.
Thanks for the effort in advance.

I have not heard of any problems with the rear hatch other than the rattle which Chrysler issued a TSB for. What problem are you having with it?

The issue that is happening is with the pneumatic locking mechanism. Many have posted about it. There is a tube that comes from the upper passenger side of the body into the hatch. This tube supplies the air to lock and unlock the hatch, much like the doors. The issue is that the hose is not flexible and has a tendency to break. When it breaks it does so at that point. It prevents the air pressure to pass to the cylinder to lock and unlock the hatch.
Many have had the hatch in the locked position and cannot unlock it until they go for repairs. Some are fortunate in the unlocked, however this does not prevent anyone from opening the hatch, thereby a theft issue. I know several people with same issue here in NJ

Count me in for the heated seats!!

They should've done this for the SRT6 IC pump too.

I think it's a guarantee that everyone has or will have this problem.

Make sure if you wish to be on this MFG list that you put your name and vin number. Important for tracking with Chrysler.

I agree with all of the above, but realistically I think the chances are very slim for the following, and more...
  • Chrysler is going belly up.
  • The car is not made any more.
  • Recalls cost millions of dollars and manufactureres are against/hesitant about doing them

I'm up for foggy headlights too, but spensley makes good points. I'll get my VIN and stuff when I get back to my garage.

The requirement is @10% of the total vehicles sold. Estimates are 55000 units sold world wide. So we would need 5000 cases of this. I already have 20 people and 3 are from a Chrysler Dealership.
Yes... they are going belly up which is why we should act as quick as possible.
The next case scenario would be the mfg itself which is Koenig.

I have had the latch repaired under warranty, pneumatic line broke and my seat heater is out. Where would you like me to send the info?
Pat
p.s. you can fix the foggy headlights yourself.

I also agree there are several problems with our car line
heated seat problems
rear hatch locking problems
dome lights staying on
power windows starting to fail
super charger cooling problems
power seat problems
various electrical problems
alarm problems
headlights fogging up
These are just a few of the problems that I have read about on this forum maybe one of the moderators could compile a list of these problems but yes count me in, also PM me to let me know who wants the VIN#,s and names, and I'll PM you that info

Okay,
I was hoping to get people to respond with vin and name here but instead email name, vin, if you are having hatch, heater or both issues. Also feel free to add other mechanical issues.
You can email that information to spectrauru@yahoo.com
I will an ongoing list of names to this thread as it grows.
There are over 16,000 members to this site, roughly 1/4 of cars sold. That would be great if we can pull this off.

Regarding the recall of safety issues. Generally yes. However. Having a car that cannot lock is an issue in regards that it promotes the possibility of theft, causing higher insurance premiums.
Having one that won't unlock can be safety if that is the only way to exit a car in an emergency.
I am sure that heat element failures can cause a fire.
