Default Can I put Regular Unleaded Gas in my Crossfire?

Hey, I was wondering is there any way I can put Regular Unleaded (87) gas in my car instead of Premium (92) and the car would still run fine. Or do I need a special type of fuel injection? Can anyone please help me out?

I don't do it myself, I use the middle grade unless going to the DRAGON!

The last time this subject came up, a can of worms got opened

You’ll need a special type of compression ratio.

Yes, you can use regular.

You can expect worse gas mileage, thereby negating any type of financial gain.

You can also expect to replace the catalytic converters sooner than expected.

You can also expect a loss of power due to the PCM pulling spark advance WAYYYYYY back to keep your engine from fitting loosely in a 5 gallon bucket.

Hope this helps.

Premium (92) was $4.50 a gallon 6 weeks ago. What did you do then? It's only $1.60 now.

Premium (93 octane) at all times....Why skimp: 1. On this car 2. It's only 20-40 cents more per gallon than regular, 13x$.40=$5.20. By my normal fill-ups that is the cost difference. It pays to "pay to play" in the long run IMHO

But you can run regular gas if that is all you can find. When I picked up my crossfire new from the dealer they told me to pull it up to their pump and they filled my tank for FREE. They only had one gas pump and I am pretty sure it was not 93 octane. It ran fine and got me home ok. I won't use it everyday but it will get you by in a pinch.

High compression engines don't like low octane gas !!! It's your car do as you wish, but if the reason you're contemplating a lower octane is price ??? As stated already you'll be making up for the cost savings later !

Just my Dos Centavos !

This topic has been discussed to death. If you want to do a search you can read all the arguments, but in a nut shell, The car requires premium, the cost difference in a fill up assuming it's completely empty is only about $3. Not worth the repairs you may injure on repairs later on.

Use premium (92-93) octane gasoline always. You will save $$$ in the long run. You own a premium car now...there are rules... so take good care of it. Alabaster rules.

The crossfire (don't know about the srt-6) actually only requires 91 (most pump stations sell 93, but 91 is the lowest to be considered premium). If you were to use 87, I would imagine an octane booster would help, but they cost about as much as your saving.

My advice, 93 with octane booster.

OOORRRR.... How about 100?

Is there an upper limit to this?

Will 100 work better in my vehicle than 93, without any modifications?

Do a search as there has been lot's of discussion on this ! I would seek out post's by HDDP and or MMZTimelord as they are our resident racers on the forum. I believe you can run as high as 103 without changes to the programming but my understanding is 103 will not give you any more horsepower than 93 ! I could be wrong, tho ! Do a search !

If you're not tuned for 100+ octane you are simply throwing your money away.

What's the old saying ... If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it!! 5 Bucks a tank is a drop in the bucket next to oil changes, tires & god forbid any repairs you would need if you didn't run the right fuel. Just follow what Chrysler says - if you wanted to run 87 you should have gotten a Honda.
