Daily Driving
Daily Driving
How many use their Crossfires for daily driving, or as their primary car. I am thinking of using mine as a primary car in the summer months only to save money on insurance, this way I would only have to insure my crossfire while my "winter" car is in storage. I just don't know if I want to keep it as a weekend car, or run it as a primary car. Let me know what your thoughts are on this.
Re: Daily Driving
Primary car is the way to go for me. Why only drive it on weekends when you can drive it 7 days/week? I can imagine not driving it in the winter up north... I did it once and it was a real pain with the RWD. It is possible, just not practical. But since it is my only car, I have no choice unless I want to walk in the ice. But the car will do what ever you want it to, it is built that well.

Re: Daily Driving
I have a Civic as a daily driver, it's much friendly with the fuel consumption. I use my Crossfire mostly on weekends and fun drives.

Mine is a daily driver..but, I do have the luxury that I don't work Jan, Feb and some of March, so if it's crummy outside, she stays in her nice warm garage. Occasionally I do have to deal with snow or ice, but I added 2 -50 # bags of sand (per an old threads suggestion) and she does just fine !

Re: Daily Driving
We have to use our 08 as our daily driver as our other one is a Chevy dully,we live in a 5th wheel RV.But here in SC the weather is not to bad.So far no snow or ice storms.Just a lota bad wind for 2 days. We do have a portable carport that we keep her in out of any weather. And well waxed.
Re: Daily Driving
Mine is a daily driver. I couldn't ask for more.
The snow is rarely more than an inch, here in Kansas City... and the Crossfire excels in both dry and wet (rain) environments. The trunk is big enough for anything I want to put back there... any ONE thing. (With the exception of my recently purchased 40" HDTV)
As long as you don't live on a gravel road or live north of Kansas, the Crossfire is a wonderful daily driver.

Daily driver here. I couldn't stand to let it sit while I drive a different car. I have to drive it as much as possible, that is why I bought such a great car....To DRIVE! Of course, the weather down here is always pretty nice, in the 70's, so i don't have the winter prob.
Re: Daily Driving
I drive every day without a whole lot of trouble. It gets pretty bad when theres a lot of snow or ice, but no problems yet , knock on wood. The only problem I`ve had is getting the fuel door open when my car is covered with ice. It`s not pretty in winter, but when it`s above freezing I spray it off at the car wash and pray for spring when I can give it a good bath.

Daily driver , like most if ice or snow is forecast - it stays home, snow car is a 83 Olds Torando roadster edition - I get more looks for driving that than the Crossfire!
I am vey lucky - I live half mile from work - I could walk - but then I don't get to drive my Crossfire

Re: Daily Driving
I drive mine daily. For the winter here in Chicago I have put snow tires on and 150lbs of sand in the back to aid in traction. It has done wonders...
Now the only thing I deal with are the people who stare at me when I go through the touchfree carwash in 10 degree weather
to get the salt cleaned off the car... at least once a week.

Re: Daily Driving
Use my roadster every day all year round. Rear wheel drive is no problem and if the snow is that bad then front wheel drive wouldn't be that much better. When I first started driving all we had was rear wheel and no ABS or traction control and I never got into an accident because of the weather.
