Default Tough windshield

While in Boise today to pick up the Gold Crossfire after an invisible Bra had been installed we took a rock strike on the windshield of my Red Crossfire.

It came from a truck going the opposite direction from us and bounced once before striking my windshield almost dead center in both directions. It was a fist-sized rock and left 3 small pits about 2" from top to bottom. It was foggy out so I don't know if full sunlight will cause a glaring or distortion problem with the pits or not. I'll get it checked out by a Glass Shop tomorrow.

I feel very lucky the rock didn't come through and strike my wife. It could have done some serious harm to her had it come through. The impact noise was terrible! My ears buzzed and whistled for three hours afterwards.

Thanks for making it so tough Daimler-Chrysler!

Jim

Damn, good thing. Those rocks can scare the CRAP out you! I had a little circle on my passenger side, can't remember when I got it, but I was going to get it fixed this weekend. Too late...The weather fluctuations here lately took care of that. Was low 30's a few days ago and it cracked out to each side about 8 inches, looked like Chrysler emblem, and then this morning it cracked almost all the way to the drivers side a pillar. Cold outside and heater inside equaled cracked windshield. Oh well, just have to get a new one soon.

Glad you guys were ok! I learned the value of wearing a full face helmet for riding motorcycles last year. Little county road, I'm going about 65 mph, a truck coming towrd me kicked up a rock about 3/4 the sixe of a golf ball. I saw that thing coming straight at me like it was laser guided . It hit me at about 110 mph combined velocity right above the visor on the right side of my forehead. That would have probably killed me instantly had I not had the helmet on, or at the very least knocked me completely senseless off the bike. As it was it was like a rifle shot, but it just glanced off my helmet with only a scratch to the helmet skin. I tore the helmet apart to see if there was an internal damage and didn't seee any-must have hit just right. I was very lucky that day
. You all were too. Mark

Wow, sounds like a big rock! I had something from the end of a semi hit my windshield last fall, it just barely chipped /nicked my windshield. But yeah, I have heard 1 or 2 times something that sounded big hit my windshield (I do a lot of interstate driving - i know, go ahead and frown, but hey- these cars were made to be driven right? hehe) and the sound was pretty big, but never did anything, it sounded like it would, but our windshields are pretty tuff, I feel safe with it and in our cars in general- 4/5 star crash test ratings in all zones!

I had a simalar occurance while driving my coupe. Saw the rock, bounced twice on the hood leaving small marks, and left a small mark on the glass. By the sound I thought it may come through. Had the small chip sealed by a glass repair shop. You can still see it if you know where to look, but so far no cracks have developed.

Glad your wife is ok, had a rock bounce across the Pennsy turnpike once and shattered the windschield - scared the absolute crap out of me - after I stopped and got the glass off me I noticed how much my hands were shaking - scarey stuff!

Default Tough windshield

Yesterday I called Ameriprise, my Insurance Company, and they scheduled a replacement for today! Safelite Autoglass just left here after installing a new glass. I was surprised there was one available but the tech told me they have over 1200 items in their warehouse and at least one of all newer vehicles.

Hat's off to both companies for such amazing service! It cost me only the $100 deductible.
