Got Cloudy yellow Headlights?? ...well I used to.
Since i bought my crossfire almost a year ago i have had a constant battle with the headlights. I bought compound that the dealership assured me would work and it did for about a week or so. at best. Then i recently went to the dealer again and asked how much it would be for them to fix the headlights... 115 bucks. ( Im in college and 115 bucks is a lot of money or food... or beer.) so i told him I'd do it myself how much was the kit and he said 85. so i passed on that to. needless to say i Have FINALLY found the answer. Meguiar's Headlight & Clear Plastic Restoration kit. The Kit includes a bottle of the compound, a soft buff towel, and a buffer wheel that attaches to a drill motor. got it at AutoZone for $25. and i'll let the pictures speak for me.
Im sorry but i forgot to take a picture of what the headlights looked like before i started then my roommate asked me if i was doing before and after pictures so i started to.
This is the headlights after wet sanding with 600 grit.

Then after wet sanding with 1500 grit

the first time over with the compound.

Then i did one more coat of the compound and it looked good as new!!
and This is what the box looks like.

This is some good stuff. hope i helped anyone with the same problem i can gladly said i HAD, not have.

Excellent work!
What could one do to prevent the headlights getting cloudy? I once had a Jeep with a soft top and used a clear plastic conditioner/cleaner to keep the windows from clouding up. Maybe an application of that every once in a while will prevent this issue?

well i did this today so we'll see how long its lasts. but you can get clear shield for headlights. its basically a thick clear tint that protects the headlight. im sure you could find something on Ebay.
Only problem is it comes back and you will have to redo it. The Meguiars kit is a great kit. Another method is Meguiars Plastx and a buffer. That works equally as well with less elbow grease. Your head lights look beautiful, nice job.
Mahon,
Thanks!
Great Pics and very helpful.
I've got the other headlight problem---condensation!
The real problem is I can't get the Xfire out of the garage for a top down sunshine experience!
One week at a time! The days are getting longer.

Glad to hear this worked out so well for you. We just introduced this kit a few months ago and it's been a huge hit for us. I'm really happy to see you going the extra mile and wetsanding first then following with the kit to pull the sanding marks. Well done.
