First Crossfire
I ran across these again today and they made me remember why I fell in love with the car. Although the car is close to the concept take a look at the split windshield and the interior, OH YEAH !!!!!!

Well I have had one for three years and I still love it!!
I love how the buttons in the center console are arranged. I wish that design would have made it to production. That and those headlights cases are...(drooling on my keyboard)...beautiful. It takes me back to the 2002 Detroit auto show
That was not a split windshield, its the windshield wiper mounted in the center. We discussed this a while back. Still and awesome looking car.

Motor Trend
Interior designers devoted the same level of attention to the cabin as they did to the jewellike exterior. As you drop into the two-tone leather bucket, the first thing you notice is that the windshield is divided in the center by a metal spine that supports the rearview mirror and houses the drive system for the central wiper. The Crossfire's second most obvious interior element is the large central tunnel between driver and passenger. As well as providing structural strength, it serves as the enclosure for the manual trans, the robust driveshaft, and the rumbling low-restriction exhaust system. A functional rally computer mounted on the passenger side of the dash provides information regarding the car's lateral g, acceleration times, and braking performance.

Car Design News
Dec 29, 2000 - The Chrysler Crossfire concept, to be unveiled at the 2001 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, fuses classic European proportions and handling attributes with the muscle and character of an American performance car.
"The Crossfire concept provides a new image for Chrysler, combining American power with international flair," said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President - Product Design, DaimlerChrysler Corporation. "The expressive execution of this small coupe is tangible proof of our capability to elevate and broaden the Chrysler brand. From its distinct design to its potent powertrain and suspension, this modern American coupe is set to impress enthusiasts around the world."
The Crossfire was designed by 25yr old Erik Stoddard, a graduate of Cleveland Institute of Art. The dramatic design has some similarities in proportion and form language to the Audi TT and Mercedes SLK, and these are the cars it would be up against, along with the Porsche Boxster.
Powered by a 2.7litre supercharged V6, the Crossfire has the typical Chrysler concept vehicle muscular front end, with a very bold grille reminiscent of the 300M sports sedan. The raised front fenders sweep back inward to intersect with the rear fender forms, which define the whole bodyside. 'Classic' features include the split screens front and rear and 'boat-tail' cabin form, which frames the prominent Chrysler emblem. The Crossfire has an interesting mix of bold, clean surfaces and ornamental detail, such as the hood with it's strong central bulge, flanked by a series of grooves.

My info came from this post "Windshield Strip Like the Concept Car". After reading the explaination by Motor Trend it could be both.......... A metal spine that divides the window and houses the wiper drive system for the central wiper. I guess we get into semantics here.

If that split in the windshield truly is the wiper too, than I must say that is one of the more creative things I've seen done, WOW!!!
Anyone know where this car is now?
Anyone know where this car is now?
Hmmm, one of those articles, or maybe both, (I'm to tired to go back and check), referred to this concept car as having a supercharger.
I then noticed from the interior pics that the vehicle was a 6-speed manual. (At least it had a clutch pedal).
I guess they did make at least one blown stick.
(But then again, maybe they made more. I'm new to this game).
