Tire Replacement Time
Its time for tire replacement.. Anyone have ContiSportContact 3 tires installed on their x-fire. If so how is the treadlife and are they ok in Cold/snow. I'm trying to find the same tires that are on it now (conti touring contact) but all of the dealers in this area are saying the sport contact 3 is the way to go.
That's what I have here on mine in Minnesota. I'm impressed. Quiet, the car has almost 14K on it and the tread on all 4 are fine. I expect to replace them all in the fall with Eagle F1's for something different, I heard those are very good for overall snow traction. But the Conti's have been fine. In fact I was pleasantly surprised how much so in the snow and ice we've had up here this year. Stayed light in the throttle, 40-50 pound bag of salt over the rear axle, and had no issues except in 7 inches of snow up my inclined drive-just didn't get enough steam behind me to get past the snowplow droppings at the end of my drive! But cleared a path and up it went without too much hassle. So, don't hesitate on them if they're a good price and they're what you want. They're fine.
By the way, I did find that 80#, 2 bags of salt is too much. Takes a bit too much weight off the front and it tracks goofy in my opinion. Steering seems too light. 50# seems to be around the magic number.
Oh, and if you have 18's all around, the dealer up here says Cooper Zeon's are really good for all season use-good traction in the snow, but they don't have a 19 for the rear.

I really didn't like the Conti's tread wear so I looked for something with as much road holding but with a better tread life. I ended up getting the Goodyear Eagle F-1 A/S and I'm ever so glad I did.
They handle better than the Conti's in my estimation and are a bit less expensive. Rick

Thanks for the input guys... I did see them on tire rack.... Reviews were mixed. Its all the Local Benz dealer said they could provide to replace the current tire on there. I might make some phone calls tomorrow and ask around some other places. The local Chysler dealer wanted to put me into Pilot Sports but they are more expensive then the conti's
One thing that I forgot to mention about the F-1's is that the tire walls are carbon fiber which makes them hard to beat. I don't drive my car in snow but on wet pavement they are great. They corner very well and ride well too. Plus, there's a $50.00 rebate from Goodyear. Tire rack has them in the correct sizes. I'm also running nitrogen in them. I think it makes a big difference.
Good luck, Rick
Good luck, Rick
+1 on the F1 A/S tires.
Two Michigan winters on 'em here and couldn't be happier. They're great in the snow and rain, and have great dry grip.
I was doing 4800 RPM drop-clutch launches at the dragstrip last year and barely had any wheelspin at all.
Couldn't be happier with these tires.

I just recieved my Eagle F-1, A/S from TireRack. It took 2 days to get and I also got the $50.00 rebate. Delivered to my house for $807.00 including shipping. Take off the $50.00 and that's pretty good. They are setting in my garage right now, haven't got them on yet, but after all my investigating, they seemed like the best fir for me.

After a couple of thousand miles.....I'm quite happy with the 275/30/19 Exclaim UHPs I put on the rear...Tire Rack's advise about (mold lubricant) breaking them in (500 miles) cautiously before turning them loose was spot on!
