Default Possibly new rims for XF

I have been doing some research on the site for correct tire sizes and such. I want to thank all of the very knowledgeable that contribute to this site.

My problem is that I found rims that I absolutely fell in love with but I am not crazy about the sizes.

20x8.5 and 20x10

I am good with the back but really don't want 20s in the front.

Please check out the link and let me know if there are similar rims out there that I could do 19s in the front and 20s in the back but stay with the 'flush spoke' look.

Nice choice. MHT will make the same wheel for you in 17" 18" or 19". They will just charge you a bit extra because they consider it a "custom" job. That's their usual marketing scheme to keep buyers from returning wheeels. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I will look into that.

I have also been playing with RnT tire website to explain the tire and rim choices and trying to stay with in the suggested 2% of factory settings for various reasons.

I have found that if I do the following tire combinations on the above rims I will be able to do it.

Front: 225 30 20
Rear 295 25 20

The purpose of this vehicle is for recreation and I may try to do a local car show as a stretch. I won't be driving it everyday or even every week and I do not want to hurt the handling or performance as well.

All thoughts and criticisms are welcomed.

From a performance standpoint I dont think I would go to the 20" tires and the lower profile. That gives you very little sidwall and you will feel bumps and pot holes much more. More potential to ding your new wheels too. Just my 2 cents.

20's. Remember you don't carry a spare. The larger they get the easier they are to damage or go flat. Now that I think about it, I seem to remember my Wife saying this to me about my butt cheeks. Anyway use it as a rule of thumb/butt whatever. Good luck.

i think 295/25/20 would be a very good looking tire. i currently run 275/35/19's and they fill the fender a little nicer, maybe look at 275/30/20's.

But on second thought you probably shouldnt on 10" wheels.

i think it will be just fine.

How bad are the roads where you live?

I would stay away from 20's all around. From everyone that I have spoken to that have done this they speak of the challenges with flat spots if you wheels sit, easy rim dents, harsher ride etc. Plus you will need spacers up front for sure and the good ones arent cheap.

Looks are important but not at the cost of the ride and the long term effects of your car.

I am considering a plus of 2o's in the rear and 19s up front but that is the limit for this car. The profile on your tires up front would be like riding on paper rims when you upgrade to 20 inch rims.

Just my .02

BTW fiinding wheels for this car are tough because of the offset. The best bet is to find a wheel made for the benz which shares the offsets and stagger and go with them. You will be thankful in the long run.

Nate

Thank you all for the comments. I love in South Florida and the roads are pretty nice. I checked on getting the rims done in a 19" and I was quoted a ridiculous number of $50K.
I will keep looking and let you guys know.

Cheers.
