Default Hello. Xfire Shopping.

Hi Everyone, My name is Rod.

I would like to ask some questions as Im in the midst of potentially buying a Crossfire.

The first is in Very good shape, 2005 Limited, 6 speed....21,000kms its at a chrysler dealer.... has a pretty good history to it, with documentation for service. Carfax etc.... but not the exact colour i want. Drives nice... powertrain warranty till may 2011.

The next one is an 04, 6 speed... i havent looked at this one. It has 40,000kms on it... this one is also at a dealer.

The reason i havent looked at this one was that they told me they couldnt get me the history etc.... told me i would have to put a deposit down and agree to purchase it after seeing the history report.... I laughed so hard at the guy...

Called back today talked to another salesman... who said he would get me the info, but hasnt called back.

If i do get the VIN, which i asked for, what are some history searches i can do.

Anything to look out for with either of these cars? Ive never bought used from a dealer. Title check? anything else?

Thanks. Both are priced very closely.

The dealer might have the car listed online with the vin number posted as is commmon practice online.

If the dealer does not give you the VIN I would be extremely cautious about purchasing the car.

Can you visit the dealership and get the VIN with your own eyes? You can always use your notebook to carfax it in the lot.

Go with newer, lower mileage if you can tolerate the color. You have maintenance records and a dealer willing to work with you. The other dealer sounds like an a$$hole - guess what will happen if you bring it back for service? About the only difference in the two cars, besides color, is the interior rear view mirror. Alternately, keep looking for the combo/color you want. There are a lot of these on the market and prices keep declining....unfortunately.

Hello Rod, and welcome to the forum--

I was in your position about a year ago. THAT's how long it took me to find the EXACT Crossfire that I wanted-- an '05 Aero Blue Limited Coupe with two-tone slate gray interior, plus one -owner and PowerTrain warranty......Now the big bonus---2,850K on the odometer! I'm so glad that I waited. It really is an amazing car!!! I enjoy taking it out each and every weekend! I drove many Crossfires during my search so color and condition were huge factors in my final decision.

What are the two colors you are considering? My second choice in color was silver-blue....I'm just very happy that I waited and found the perfect car. I bought it from a dealer on April 9.

In preparation for my search, I bought a month-long membership to Carfax for $40.00. These reports will offer you some good piece of mind and assurance on the condition of what is being sold out there.

Best of luck!

Monty

Thanks for the replies so far!

I am no longer dealing with the second dealership... I went through 3 sales people, and all of them pushed for a deposit or agreement to purchase before veiwing the history. Im baffled by this sales technique... its a pretty big chrysler dealer..... I found out it is an american car, purchased from an auction...

Monty the first car is the exact same colour as yours: Aero Blue.

Ive just come across another Crossfire about 3 hours away... Its a base model tho...

Id really like one in Grey or Saphire blue, limited, 6spd.....

Well I'm at witts end with the dealerships. A year ago when i bought my truck i had to go to 5 dealers...4 of them couldnt have sold me a truck if their lives depended on it

Same thing with the Crossfire, im paying cash, no financing, and these sales guys cant even get back to me with information.

Tonight I tried to contact one salesman to finalize the price so I could have a bank draft printed up..... no dice... didnt even call me back

I might be getting the Base if the Gentleman will drop his price by $1000 I really want the infinity stereo and leather tho...

Make it simple. Go to eBay. Pick out a CF you like. Check the carfax report. Check the dealers eBay rating. Bid. Win. Pick up the car. Drive it, enjoy it and go on with life. Done deal. Buying any used car is a gamble. Just use common sense. You'll be fine.

I had no problem buying my 2008 Crossfire Coupe in October of 2007. I made them an offer and we split the diffenence. I got it for 22,650 and was really happy. The dealer is really good to me to. They also gave me a 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and lifetime on the powertrain. It had 111 miles on it and was titled new. It was also treated with Resit All for the paint and interior. Anyone ever used Resist All. Is it any good? Thanks

Definitely go with the leather interior, Roddy. You won't be sorry. Gee, business must be booming if these dealerships that you visit can't return phone calls in order to finalize deals!

***** This Blew me Away!******

I found the Blue Crossfire I mentioned above last weekend.... test drove it... got the "real" asking price from the dealer... called back tuesday and my sales guy is on Vacation...... so they set me up with his sales partner.

Well this guy must not be able to use the phone... i Left him 5 messages between tuesday and thursday.... finally set up an appointment for a final once over/drive of the car..... i head to the bank and get a Bank draft for $1000 less than their asking price....

I get there.... and i dont see the car.... head inside and the sales guy says to me "oh yeah we just sold it"

And i say "why would you sell it when Im on my way with a Bank Draft"

So i say to him "what did it go for? ($$$)... he yells over to the other sales guy "Hey Mark what did you pay for the Crossfire?"

^^^^^^ Hows that for sales + service skills?

They sold it to an employee

Autotrader.com is your friend do a search 2004-2008 Chrysler Crossfire 50 mile Radius (Or how ever far you want to drive to find a good one)Dealers only. Do not buy from a non-franchise dealer unless they supply a carfax report. I can find you one if you give me the zip code or mostly likely multiples, just PM me if you need help. Small Dealerships like bob's auto sales etc buy alot of Auction cars in some cases they are salvaged cars so be carefull when when you even consider one of those.

^^^ Thanks I really appreciate that offer!

Im located up in Canada, I have gone through all the websites: Buysell, Canadatrader, kijiji, craigslist, autos123 etc....

Right now im just going to wait, and see if i can get one for a VERY low price... instead of paying top dollar for one.
