Default 1 Month to go...

My dealer just got the information on my Crossfire. Black 6 speed, with dark slate, grey interior. For their last car it took them a month to get it once they got the information, so that's how long they expect it to take this time. Hopefully it will take less time. The only thing I'm bumed about is that it isn't a cedar interior, but as far as I can tell they aren't even making them yet or something, because I haven't even seen a single car with that interior in it. My first purchase for my car will certainly be a California Car Duster, I have heard black cars are difficult to keep clean...

Default cars in Baltimore

No more than 4 hours from you, in the Baltimore area, are two dealers that as of last weekend between them had 12 or 13 cars on their lots. 2/3rd autos, 1/3 manuals, all selling at list, but after minimal haggling each offered me a stick off the lot at $34 even. Took the only black stick they had, but they had what I think is called the SS Blue, some whites, a couple graphites, and a red. I liked the red a lot better than I expected. One of the dealers still had a black auto unspoken for.

I don't know if they moved any this week, but both had told me they weren't selling very well up to that point, so most of those cars may still be there.

If you can't wait, take a day, go to Baltimore, and take a look. I'll be glad to send you the info on the dealers so you can contact them before you make the drive.

Does SS Blue mean SuperSonic Blue? it would be funny if it did, cause that's a name for a honda color..

Thanks for the info. I am pretty set with my dealer. I think I can wait it out, especially since my dealer has been so good to me. When I extended the lease on my Sebring, Chrysler originally wanted almost $100 more a month for the lease. My dealer got them to LOWER the monthly payments from what I was originally paying. Chrysler also would not let me extend it more than a year, even though I was buying another Chrysler. My dealer called up, and a few hours later got my lease extended for another month. They also have given me posters, and any other material they get in on the Crossfire. Very nice dealership. They only have 2 salesman so it's nice and small.

PS - I think Chrysler should have some of those Crossfires shipped to my dealership. I guarantee you a lot less of them would be sitting on the lot. There is pretty good demand for the Crossfire around here, especially at MSRP. The dealership is located in one of the most affluent towns in the country.

I bet that dealer has so many because he/she still has their original ones that they were marking up $5K. So, I'm glad that they are stuck with them for now--should have never marked them up in the first place, and now they are having to unloaded them.

Default Balto dealers

Texex:

I can see why you'd say that. Both DID try to bump prices at first...didn't most dealers? We have a local 'exotic' car dealer that buys/sells Ferraris/Lambos/Porsches/BMWs/Lotuses (Loti?)etc....some new, most not. Last week in the major newspaper he was advertising a brand new Crossfire for $42,995! Not a Chrysler dealer, lord knows where he found the car. I've dealt with him in the past, he's a snake. I'm delighted if he thinks he's going to make a killing on the car and instead takes a bath.

Both the the Balto. Chrysler dealers with all the cars on the lot dropped the extra charge literally within a week of when the cars were released. Both tacked on $5K at first, then tried $2K with little success. One currently advertises in the Baltimore Sunpaper in the Sunday supplement that the cars are MSRP. As I said, both knocked $500 off list with surprisingly litte wrangling.

Who knows why they're not selling around here. The Baltimore Washington corridor is a strange place. Lots of Humvees (both 1's and 2's) on the road. Not unusual to see a Lambo, Ferrari, Lotus, Aston Martin and even the odd Z 8 BMW on a fairly regular basis. Mostly around DC. Lots and lots of new 350Z's, Audi TT's, Jaguars, Vettes, Vipers etc. on the two beltways every day. Some I see daily seem to be daily commuter cars.

Maybe the Crossfire just doesn't generate the same buzz because although it truly is unique, it's one of many unique cars that blow by every day. Although it gets a fair amount of attention, I can't say that the attention it gets here is anything out of the ordinary.

Had the car in the dealership today getting some of those niggling things taken care of. Asked my salesman if they'd sold any cars this week. He said no, lots of lookers, but no takers.

Go figure. Keeps my car unique (I've seen only one other on the road). But I agree, it would be nice if they'd ship them off to areas where they'd be bought and appreciated.

I'd love to know what the real sales figures are nationwide against Chrysler's projections. Anybody out there have any info?

We'll know soon if we start seeing first, special interest rates and then, cash back offers. My bet is that if sales aren't what are expected, we might see some interest rate deals before Halloween.
