Thumbs up New Guy Here...looking At Getting A Xfire

LOOKING TO GET AN XFIRE HERE PRETTY SOON. I BEEN READING SOME FORUMS ON WAT GOES WRONG WITH THEM. SAW ONE FORUM THAT SAID THAT THE KEY LOCKS AND YOU CANT TURN THE IGNITION ON. THEY SAID ITS A "COMMON" THING IN THESE CARS. AT HOW MANY MILES DOES THAT USUALLY HAPPEN AT? IM LOOKING TO GET THIS XFIRE AND WAS WONDERING ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCED THOUGHTS ON THE VEHICLE. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false . DOES IT HAVE TO MANY MILES ON IT? THANKS GUYS

At 23k, I'm going to have my key switch replaced, having said that, I love the car. It's a whole lot of bang for the buck.

I've been on this forum for over 5 years and this is the first that I've heard about key problems being a common thing. Yeah there have been 3 or 4 out 60,000 cars. Not quite what I'd call common.

59K sounds like a lot of miles but there are lots of cars here with much more. Does kind of explain why it is selling for less than $9K though.

i test drove the car yesterday. drove pretty nice but there was this rattling sound coming from the back. im thinking it might be the muffler or something. from a stop then accelerate a bit theres a rattling sound until like 10-15 mph. then it goes away. does anyone have a rattling sound like that? it's pretty loud. just wondering if anyone would have any other idea's of would it would be.

The stuck key is a common problem. I had it and many on the forum have too. It happened with less than 35k miles. As a matter of fact, there are very few crossfires in my town. When I had the key problem, the dealership had another crossfire with the same key problem. That is how common this issue is. It is caused by the steering wheel lock pin. Do a search in this forum and you will learn more about it.

The other common problem is the headliner falling down. If it hasn't fallen yet, it will!

OK, I stand corrected. My key has never stuck and don't know anyone whose key has stuck. My headliner has never fallen down and never spoken to anyone whose headliner has. Hope neither does happen to me.

Probably depends on whether a particular thing happens to you or not. I think the headlamp fog crap and dead bun warmer are common problems. Both of them happened to me.

Rattling in the coupe models is pretty common too, as mine used to rattle. There are a few tricks you can use, search the forum and the info will come...

The rear rattle IS a common problem. The good news is it's an easy fix. The rattle comes from the latch of the rear hatch. There is a TSB out for the dealer to fix it for free (they replace the latch with one that has rubber around it). Or, you can do what many have done and just wrap electrical tape around the lock catch.
