Default Leaking Brake Fluid?

Has anyone ever heard of brake fluid leaking from the rear passenger side? The last two times I pulled the car out of the garage there was a brownish fluid spot near the rear tire. I looked under the car and there was some fluid on one of the suspension arms. I wiped it up and it did not look to be coming from any one the brake lines...I even had my wife pump and hold the brakes.. no leak. Checked brake fluid level looks good. Has anyone ever had anything like this happen? I cant even tell if it is brake fluid or just rusty water from when i washed the car earlier in the week. Sorry to ramble on just not sure if I should be concerned.

Sounds like something coming out of the drum portion of the disc brake (parking brake mechanism) OR (worse) if it's oil, could be leaky bearings.

It was not slippery like oil...but it did stain the painted floor.

Did you check the reservoir to see if it was low? If its not its probably not brake fluid.

Are you sure it isn't transmission fluid. It is a common problem with the seal leaking. If your brake fluid is full then it isn't brake fluid. Oil is easy to spot. What's left.

Unhappy Re: Leaking Brake Fluid?

Its a roadster and all the fluids seemed fine but it only was a few drips in a couple days. Brought it to the dealer tonite so they can take a look tomorrow. Hopefully its not anything really bad. I miss her already!

Dealer called today and said of course " we can't find any leak". I then proceded to explain to the service manager in greater detail where the fluid was coming from and they will look at it again tomorrow morning. They tried to tell me it was the a/c condensation. LOL

Brake fluid to the touch is very strange feeling, and will destroy paint, not like oil. Considering it's brown in color! can mean its fluid from the rear end, brake lines and related parts, shock fluid, or even the top fluid, to check if its top fluid you need to run the top up and down a few times and then check for leaks, Saab's that have convertible tops have had the same problem, and it takes a little time for the fluid to leak out through the bottom of the car, make sure you check the cylinders for seapage as well.
